I'm aware of all of my local breweries and I'm looking at getting into trying more IPAs. I see Dogfish Head 60min at my local grocer. I was wondering if its a good place to start with a solid ipa.

Start with the 120 Minute....just kidding. 60 min is a good place to start, good solid all around brew. May I also suggest giving Southern Tier's IPA a try as well.

The answer to that question is yes. 60 minute is IPA 101. Gateway beer and very friendly. Also, as far as myself and IPA, I cut my teeth on Harpoon IPA, very floral and a good solid IPA.

Yep, that was my first IPA as well. And it's still a great IPA, although DFH has lost their hipster cred because you can find their stuff without having to live across the street from the brewery.

60 Minute was the first IPA I came to love, so I'd say it's a good place to start. Don't give up on IPAs if you don't like it the first time.

60 minute is a good one to start with. When i first tried a craft beer it was a 90 Minute IPA and I spit it out and vowed never to drink craft beer again and here I am now a IPA lover who now enjoys 90min. Just dont start out with a really strong one or it might scare you away.

DFH 60 minute is a good start. I also see that Bear Republic is distributed in North Carolina. I found BR Racer 5 to be another good IPA to start with. I usually take some Racer 5 when I know there will be folks that haven't tried craft beers yet and don't want to scare them away.

I think you might like 90 minute even better, honestly. It's actually sweeter. Try 60/61/75/90/120. Leave no stone unturned...how else will you know which one YOU like the best?

And knowing, is half the battle.

We are a spoiled here in California because of Stone and Bear Republic. For me, I was into drinking local, so the first IPAs that I tried and fell in love with is the Stone IPA and the Racer 5. I'm not sure how available they are in NC, but they were definitely great IPAs to start off with for me!

    60 Minute is great.

Look for their Firefly Ale as well.

60 minute is great. But if you decide to experiment with some other of DFH's other beers, keep in mind they're not afraid to experiment with a bunch of different crazy stuff. So if you don't like a few of their beers, don't give up on them because brewing a bunch of different crazy one off's is just who they are.

The 60 Minure IPA is a good one, but if you want to get into IPAs then don't stop there. It's a starter, not an ender. Every IPA has its own experience, and noticing the subtle differences is all about the learning experience. Keep trying others that are NOT Imperial or Double IPAs. Those can come later.

Stone's regular IPA, and then Ruination is what hooked me. 60 min is great too.

Better yet, find a store that sells single bottles and get six different ones to try.

Good choice. I hated IPAs at first. 60 minute was my gateway beer.
