I watched a show on discovery a few years ago in which the owner of Dogfish Head while in Maine visited a boat maker with piles of cedar scraps. The show featured them brewing a beer with the cedar scarps as a flavor ingredient. Sounded disgusting to me. Did anything ever come of the brew? Did they ever make it for commercial distribution?
Dogfish Head GrainToGlass "Due to the limited availability of our Brewpub Exclusive Beers, GrainToGlass will not be available to go in growlers."
I really used to enjoy that show; Brew Masters(?). Would love to be able to see it again. It piqued my interest in craft brews.
Boulevard's Seeyoulater Doppel was aged on cedar. I was skeptical prior to drinking it, but I ended up enjoying it. Of course, they stopped brewing it, so I might have been the only one.
Oh my! Cedar infused in a piney, hoppy backbone could be a fine thing indeed! Maybe I have to engineer a trade!
