Anyone else pumped about these 2 super high gravity beers being released in November? I know I am.. I just hope they release enough to go around, at least for the dedicated ones who are willing to get to their local stores early.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's been a while since DF has released any of their super high gravity beers (other than 120 min, and Olde school last year). Happy 20th anniversary to these guys, I'm glad to see that they're releasing some cellar-able rarities that I'm hoping are available on the KY side. Ohio's damn 12% cut-off can be a bummer at times.

Anyone know how many they'll be putting out for these releases?

I still see Fort 2012 various places. I think you'll be fine.

I saw the old Fort release in few NYC locations early-mid 2014, but not since (some places are slow to rotate their wares so this wasn't too shocking).

The shift into 12 oz. bottles should help to spread the release out so we can all grab a few. At least, that's what I'm hoping .

Yea it's great that they're putting them in the 12 ozers now. Because really, who could drink a bomber of 18% beer and not just be completely trashed?? Not saying it can't be done, but...

Lol, yeah it's doable but don't plan on getting much accomplished after that.

The shift to 12oz may also just be logistics driven. They installed a larger, high-speed filling line about a year ago. I think before that there wasn't enough 12oz filling capacity for these 'occasional rarities', so they had to do them on the older, slower 750ml line. Shrug, either way I'm not complaining about the switch.

Also, I forgot to mention it, but I share your excitement about these releases!

My store i go to has been getting Chateau Jiahu, Birra Etrusca, and their Kvass. But havent seen anything other than those for months. Around last April i saw Hellhounds on my Ale and Black and Blue. I should've picked them up.

In reference to you saying them not releasing high gravity brews i agree.

It seems the big-boys (fort, wws and raison d'extra) are getting released every 3rd year, well 2013 was WWS, 2014 was Raison D'extra and 2015 if Fort. Maybe this is the new release schedule for these beasts?
120 is still a few times a year.

So I thought I'd revive this thread. Any thoughts on Higher Math now that it is out (on top of the info I can find in reviews).

How do you guys feel it compares? I really liked D'Extra, but I could pass on most other DFH stuff these days.

I've got Higher Math sitting in my closet, but haven't had it yet.. I've heard mixed reviews. I really enjoyed this year's Fort though, although Olde School is still my favorite of DF's big beers.

Fort was pretty nice. Punches you with raspberry up front, hot booze in the middle, decent finish

Higher Math is the best of their super high abv beers (I have not had WWS). Doesn't smell like nail polish remover like the others and it gets better as you sip. The cherry is awesome and the chocolate comes on in the after taste. If you pay close attention, the after taste can resemble taking a sip of a stout moments after the swallow

Higher Math definitely worth getting and I wish I had another

I liked 3oz of Higher Math, after that it gets a little gross. Very sweet, syrupy, bottle shared between 3-4 seems like plenty for me. I do enjoy massive beers and sweet beers - I'm an avowed barleywine fanatic...there's just something about HM that's too much. The fruity cherry syrup aspect was just unappealing for me.

Agreed. I split one with a friend and it was still too much half way through.

I loved Fort, though. Still would prefer a 6oz bottle!

Higher Math was incredibly sweet, but the intended flavors are all there and in balance. I wouldn't care for much more than 2oz or so though.

I bought a 4 pack and have not cracked one yet. Waiting for a few friends to get together and taste one.

Love 120, chocolate and cherries so this could be good.

    Enjoy

Very disappointed in Higher Math. Way too sweet and not balanced.
