I've never had D'Extra, but as someone who doesn't really like D'etre is this worth looking for?

Berman's had some cellared for $10.41 for a 12 oz bottle in the past year. I picked up one then they may still have some. Cellared and kept in the dark.

Yes, it is, but they are really two different beers.

I second that. Pretty much vastly different beers. This is the one DFH beer I ask about whenever I see one of their reps. Fantastic news! I have one bottle left from 2007 and can't wait to compare it to the new release...

Good news, as I've never tried it before, so now I will have a chance.

Also (kinda old news) excited that namaste is in 12 oz bottles now, and reasonably priced (8.99 a six most places). that is a very delicious Wit.

Berman's rules! Just went there yesterday and grabbed one of these. Thanks for the tip!

I also have some WWS if anyone needs some. Also grab any Raison D'Etre you see. I have heard DFH will discontinue bottling this beer.

Oh snap! Where did you hear this? Are they replacing it with another/new beer?

It's not on the 2014 release schedule.

As of 4 - 5 years ago they were holding up nicely. A local place used to sell cellared bottles and I bought two each of 9/29/06, 3/15/07, and 3/30/05. I have only had one of the 3/30/05 bottles and that was in 2009. At that point, it was great. I only hope it is not past its prime.

Heard it from one of the guys at Total Wine.. Believe they may still offer on draft at DFH Alehouses.

I'd recommend grabbing one to share as it's definitely worth a shot. As someone who doesn't really care for Raison D'Etre, I found that Raison D'Extra was definitely worth it. Granted the only bottles I've tried were cellared ones from 2007 that I got from a bottle shop last year (apparently a few places stocked up!), but I'll echo that these have held up very well. I'm really looking forward to trying this fresh!

I've actually had fresh 120 minute, world wide stout, and olde school and cellared bottles of each. I thought the world wide stout was better fresh than the 2009 bottle I had a few months ago. It could have just experienced bad handling. I'd like to try a fresh D'extra and an old one!

I had both beers for the first time several years ago at The Porter during a beer class, and they are light years apart. The D'Extra is so much sweeter and boozier if you didn't know they shared a base you wouldn't think they had anything in common. Damn good stuff.

D extra has a plum raisin brandy kind of taste. It's amazing. I can't wait. I will be opening one of my last 07's on release day with the new batch.
