Not all beer traders are Craftholes but all Craftholes are beer traders. It's likely true.

There are all kinds of "holes" out there. In every niche. (Ever visit a record store? Oh, boy!) But they are consumers. And retailers make their money off of them. It is part of doing business.

Very true. A hole is going to be a hole whether you're talking about beer, music, or whatever. There does seem to be a higher percentage of holes when it comes liquor stores for whatever reason though.

So just to clarify, does making the cunty comment make me someone a crafthole, or just not buying something that you have in stock when I'm looking for something else?

I'm curious because I've seen other threads where some people feel like if you pass a beer cooler you're obligated to buy something, and I just don't get that mentality.

I don't see anything wrong with that but I believe the point of this is how you conduct yourself while in that store. For example, "You don't have what I'm looking for, ok guys, I'll catch you later." as opposed to "Everything here is shit." Anyway, that's my take on it.

Asshats predate the internet, and even beer.

Don't you know the "good stuff" isn't even sold at the stores...

Ahhh threads like these make me feel like the elder family member talking about walking 18 miles/30km to school in the snow....

In my small province you deal with a majority of monochromatic swill and scattered in with a few unsung gems( that still may be out of code).
The "Good Stuff" is a rarity and increasingly harder to pin down or might require a trip to Maine or further down to get but we are overall thankful for what we get ( out of code or not).

I might be a crafthole. I went to the bottle shop looking for something specific. Everything else there that I would buy or looked interesting, was either too pricy for what I had looked to spend today, or I already had at home in the cellar. So I was gonna walk out but I just happened to ask for some Waldo's special ale and they surprisingly had it as it just arrived. Thank god for that or I would've been such a crafthole.

A lot of things on this planet if not 90% of it would be solved and peaceful with no drama if people followed a simple rule i like to call "worry about yourself" of course unless a family or friend or anybody in need needs assistance.

Not even really snobby. Its bad business to sell a bad product. Its one thing to be like "this ipa is older than 10 days, its no good" and a whole other thing if the brewers expiration date is way past. I wouldn't buy it either unless i knew the style of beer can hold up. Pilsner, hefe, kolsch...no way.

Well said and I agree. I made it a habit to make small talk with the guys at my local distrubutor, show my face often, and toss them thank you bottles for going out of their way to secure limited release cases. Its the little things that will make you very happy in the long run.

Haha wow. You do realize that how these local "craft" beers stores get more (or ANY) allocated product is because of the brewery's "common shelf stuff"? You don't get KBS because you're not selling regular Founders products or Hopslam because you're not selling regular Bell's or BBQ because you're not selling regular Boulevard, etc.

You know this goes both ways. When I was visiting my daughter over Christmas in Tulsa OK I found a small liquor down the road from her house and spent a pretty penny there that week getting stuff that I can't get back here in Texas, not whales by any mean, just different beer that I don't have available to me. Over the past few months I have sent her there to get some various things that I can't find here. Asked her yesterday to go get some Anniversary releases that I had just found out about for some local breweries and the guy tells her yeah that stuff is gone and can't get it, but has no problem selling her an IPA from last years release (Jan 2015). She didn't know any better so she purchased it. I told her to take it back but she is like, no I am done with them, they were starting to act like I was pain'ng them with my request. So she goes to another store further from her house better selection and the guy helps her get about half the stuff that I requested. Salesman was nice, and when she was walking out the door he asked her if she wanted any KBS, he still had some left, so she picked up a couple of bottles. So guess where she buys all of her beer/wine/champagne now? This is a two way street, we should treat salespeople with respect, but also salespeople should treat their customers with respect, because without us, well your out of a job.

I am not a crafthole. Yes, I wouldn't mind picking up a whale or two, but like was said earlier, there is just too much variety on the shelf to pass up. Try new stuff. You can find some great deals and some great beers just lurking next to the shelf turds if you just look for them !

I am not a craft hole, I act friendly and mature, but if I go to a store looking for a specific beer, I resent the looks of disdain I get from the owner/manager/clerk if I don't buy something else if they don't have what I want. Act friendly and businesslike, don't be a clerk hole.
