I thought KBS was pretty awesome and worth
$5.50 a bottle (the price of a bud in a bar). Better beers and better deals, but nothing wrong with KBS IMO.

    5.50 a bottle? cost me 56 bucks for a 4 pack.

Unfortunately, it's a vocal minority. The vast majority of people I've encountered have been awesome. The assholes tend to stick out in everyone's mind, especially people who are on the outside looking in.

Agreed, they will always be a minority ... I just stay away from lines or other places where a larger percentage congregate.

OMG that sucks. I think mine was like $4.99 and my daughter got 2 in Tulsa for like $11 with tax. That is just wrong.

Well my grocery store must sell enough Founders then because that's where I got my KBS. I didn't mean to make it sound like I only look to score whalez from the craft store, but I typically go there only to get stuff I can't find at the grocery store which is just more convenient.

Whoa, way to expensive at that price, $22.00 in these parts. Some better deals out there for sure, even here. Yeti has just started showing up, Ten Fidy, Speedway...

I think a lot is in how it's presented. Like others said, if someone comes in and asks for KBS, then makes a comment like in the OP, of course he's going to be considered and a-hole, and they're probably right. I have a few stores I frequent - I usually buy something when I go in, but sometimes I don't need anything or have the time, I'll ask if they have X, if not, I may ask when they are expecting it. If they can't tell me, then fine, see you next time. I don't NEED every limited release out there, but I like to get them, because I am a BA, and like to get limited releases. I've spent enough time on the other side of the counter, or in customer service that I know you get better help the nicer you are. I;m sure I've said some things that are considered douchy over the years, but I usually realize it and apologize after the fact.
(yeah, sometimes I don't realize it WAY after the fact - too later to say anything.)

Yeah I like it. I hear Butthead, "Hee hee, hee hee. He said, "Crafthole.""

Butthead was more of a uh-huh-huh-huh. Beavis did the heh heh heh, yeah heh heh. I'm kind of an authority on this because most of my life I've been told I laugh exactly like him.

Well that sucks. Maybe you should get a big group together to go to these beer events, maybe with some big football or rugby types to intimidate these assholes (not even dignifying these people as craftholes) into acting decently.
This thread saddens me. I'm sad this sort of behavior is prevalent enough to inspire a word to describe these people. Beer people shouldn't be like wine snots. I always thought it was cool that my beer enthusiast friends could find something to like in a Miller Lite or a Bud, while still going crazy for the nearby microbrewery's offerings or the best Belgian brews.
I guess I've been fortunate that people I've met who know more about beer than I do have appreciated my interest in the good stuff and learning more about it.
Regarding "the good stuff in the back of the store," may I suggest setting up a program where customers qualify for special stuff if they buy a certain amount per month. Lots of places have perks for frequent customers. The non-frequent customers don't seem to mind as long as they know they're not being pushed aside arbitrarily.

Craft beer definitely has its snobs and assholes, but for the most part I've had positive experiences. Most people are more than willing to be helpful and help people getting into it or just hate the snobby part of beer and just want to enjoy anything they like.

I was being a bit harsh.
I should mention I have met a lot of awesome people also mostly because of this site.
Just seems craft beer attracts a lot of those types.

Beer is a bit of a strange world.
If I was looking for some other limited luxury item: say the latest super cool limited Nikes, I would have no problem walking in and asking if they had them in my size. If they didn't I would not feel obliged to buy some Adidas. I would even (gasp) simply phone a couple of stores and ask if they had my size. If a store had them and were holding them for someone else (or an employee) I think I have a right to be annoyed.
If they were sold out and I really wanted them I might even go on eBay or mysneakercellar.com and pay extra to get them. I don't think doing any of those things make me a bad person.
Somehow though if I do that with beer I am an asshole?
Someone needs to explain why beer is different

Beavis and Butthead for sure drink BMC. If they drank a Westy 12 they would say "this sucks" and drain pour it after one sip. Actually, they would probably get wasted on O'Douls.
