Just to be clear the breweries aren't setting the price. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but standard markup from the distributor is like 30 to 40% correct? So the store is buying it at some where between $8-$10 a bottle. If someone is paying $20 then either the distributor or store is jacking up the price.

Yes, I guess I should have said breweries, distributors, stores. The brewery sets the MSRP which is higher than what the distributor and store pays for the beer, I believe?

Pretty sure I payed $13 for DOOM early April. What's the MSRP? $20 sounds ridiculous.

Founders would presumably set the MSRP, but if the store price is that-half-over-again ($20/$13), then the brewery is not to blame for ridiculous prices. If you think $13 is a ridiculous price, then yes, the brewery would be at fault.

$13 for doom for sure and normal founders 4 packs usually go for $11.99 around here.

This mindset has gotten so out of hand over the past two years. It's ridiculous.

I've never seen Double Trouble over $10. Of the two beers your bought, that seems like the worse gouging.

Haven't seen Doom around yet but I bought Double Trouble at two different stores, the prices were 10.29 and 10.59 with tax included.

I like all the people talking shit on Doom because it's a barrel aged IPA, show me a more tropical tasting IPA and I will call shenanigans.

It was the first bourbon barrel IPA I had ever had and was skeptical. It blew me away. Think hoppier, lighter American barleywine aged in bourbon barrels for an idea of the flavor.

I have not interest in ANY bourbon barrel aged beer. If I want to taste bourbon, I'll drink bourbon.

If I made it seem like I was blaming Founders for the $20 price tag, that was not my intention. I was just trying to say people paying any price for beer will continue prices to go up, and that $20 is way too high for this beer.
