Got one of each of these today at Craft Beer Cellar in Belmont, MA. The DBB was the last one, but I think they had a few more of the Baptista.

I was thinking that sticker is a reason for them and the stores to sell it at a higher price.

Yeah ... I have no doubt. The thing is, their beer is good enough they don't need to do that. I'm used to seeing this tactic done from 'lesser' breweries to lure people in. BBB is a known commodity.

On the other hand, me and my buddy were remarking yesterday how Bourbon County Rare isn't exactly rare considering how many bottles are floating around and multiple retailers offered them 4 sale yesterday with the the 16' BCBS release. Makes you wonder what is truly 'rare' these days...

Now I really wish Epic was still available in Indiana. Worst timing ever.

I haven't had all of the releases but 71 is absolutely fantastic. Like KBS, who? fantastic.

Picked up a couple in NC tonight. Batista is supposed to land in town next week. Great start to December. Let it snow let it snow let it snow!

My parents live in Milwaukee and are coming down to visit next week. Any tips on where DOUBLE BARREL and Baptista are to be found yet if they are even still around any more?

Double Barrel BBB is a waste of money. Tastes like a straight shot of whiskey. No coffee, no chocolate, just whiskey.

I see you had it on tap and rated it a 4.05. Maybe getting a bottle and aging it will make a difference for you.

Had some Double Barrel Big Bad Baptist the other night. Would need to do a side by side with the original BBB to be able to compare the two, as it has been a couple years since I last enjoyed what might be my favorite imperial stout (BBB), but I would say that I loved this version just as much as the original.

I will say, I definitely got some nice, enjoyable whiskey barrel from this latest variation of the beer. That is not something I can always say I get from the original.

Maybe. Could have been the glassware too; soapy residue, etc.

I disagree. I thought there were a lot deeper, barrel aged coffee notes present that almost lended to tobacco-esque flavors. Just like with regular BBB, I didn't pick up on much of the barrel character, just a ton of coffee flavors. I think the barrel aged coffee beans really changed the character of the beer as the flavors in that type of coffee are nothing like regular coffee. It's hard to describe barrel aged coffee, but the double barrel BBB really captured those flavors present in barrel aged beans. This probably won't make much sense unless you've had barrel aged coffee...

I've had barrel aged coffee. I LOVE good coffee, but I have not quite enjoyed barrel aged coffee, as it tastes like someone just dumped whiskey into my cup. Probably something I need to have more to appreciate.

Yeah, I don't know how I felt about it. I definitely was undecided on whether or not I liked the booziness, but I do know it definitely added a new layer of flavors as the coffee cooled. Definitely was able to pick up on those coffee flavors in the Double Barrel BBB...

These both hit Texas this week. Baptista is a delicious cinnamon bomb that's well balanced. The double is one of the finest coffee barrel stouts I've ever had. Coffee, Whiskey balances nicely up front with a nice dark chocolate finish. I'm sitting on a few but it's going to be hard not to drink them, near perfect for my tastes.
