Is this considered the same as Oaked DB? Had this on draft last night and it was freaking fantastic, it was like a smoother vanilla Double bastard.
Not sure if its the same, but had an Oak Aged DB before at a Stone Tap Takeover in DC. Believe it was aged for 2 yrs in the barrel. Hands down the best beer I have ever had.
I've only ever seen Oaked Arrogant Bastard, never Double. But it sure sounds good! Sorry, didn't really answer your question I guess.
Where did you find it on tap with toasted oak? Since barrels are charred, I imagine they added "toasted" wood chips to the fermenter instead of barrel aging. Its less expensive and preserves most of the hop flavor.
Had it at Slater's 50/50 in Huntington Beach, no idea on the details, bartender were just bartenders.
OP I think you are thinking of the regular Oaked AB. The version I have seen around is the Toasted Oak Double Bastard which I also agree with above is probably just with oak chips.
They got it right now on tap at the stone bistro in Pasadena it's so good the toasted oak really sets this beer off.
Well, all I know is that the menu said it was Double bastard with toasted oak and it was an 11% beer per the menu. I know the menu could be wrong, but it sure seemed to have the kick and color of Double Bastard. Weird.
