To cellar or not to cellar? It's 4 weeks old currently and I've never had one before (although I did just have a taste of Lukcy Bastard for the first time) and have had many AB and OAB. If booziness is the only reason to cellar I'll just drink it fresh.
    Cheers!

I would buy another two but my "cellar" is quite full and I want to save room for a couple more unique beers.

I prefer it over a year, the hops fade down a little, leaving it easier to stomach (not a hop guy). Fresh it's too hoppy for my tastes.

I've read opinions here that it's best around the three year mark. I've got a two-year bottle I am debating opening over Christmas.

So far between Fresh /1 year / 2.5 year / 3.5 year - I've thought that 3.5 year was best, but not that much different than 2.5 year. I'll be having another one soon to sample at 4 years.

It was way to hot for me fresh, but loved it with a year on it.

Yep 3-5 years is the spot. I look forward to DB every year probably more than any other beer. Ages amazingly

Agreed. Ages great. Even up to around 10 years. I will say that year to year varies quite a bit which affects how much I like it fresh. Some years are much more bitter and hop forward. But that come down to personal preference. Can't really go wrong but if you haven't had it give it a try now.

I don't know how anyone cellars anything without an initial benchmark/tasting.

Well luckily that ended up being the case for me since I grabbed an AB box set last week. Popped open that one and threw the original in the cellar for 1-2 years to see what happens. Solid stuff fresh.

It's so good aged! Had a 2012 a few months ago and loved it. The one complaint was there was a ton of floaties! I have 5-10 aging right now in my local liquor store lol. I'll buy em when I want to try another.

For what's worth, when I had this year's on draft a few weeks back it had a much more pronounced caramel sweet aftertaste than I remember my previous fresh bottle having. I believe that bottle was back in 2012. Bottom line, this is one that varies quite a lot year to year.

Opened a 2005 a couple of weeks ago, and it was sublime. So, my answer would be yes.

I have no experience. But I wouldn't, just because it's not as big of a beer as the Double Bastard
