I see at least 1 of the "standard" IPA's making it quite a while in.. when tasting against double's, they'll just taste nice, crisp and easy to drink. Good idea and well thought out.

Note: my comment is selfishly primarily to "subscribe" to the thread and get the eventual updates on winners.. cheers!

not really double blind, but very cool nontheless. No matter how you set it up if they both get the same things it's just blind. Now if one got beer and one got non-alcoholic beer and nobody knew which was which, that would be double blind. This is just a blind tasting

Unfortunately for me, I've only had 7 of those up there so I could never pick a winner. You are missing out on a gem in Hop JuJu not being in there too. That would be the bracket buster. I'd pick either Pliny or Abrasive of the ones I've had with Double Jack on their heels.

My guess is Abrasive sneaks in for the win.

BP is actually the 8th seed and one of my personal favorites. Can't wait to see how it does!

To all who noticed that the 2nd flight is a killer and that it looks like Hopslam got an easy draw... Yup.
But that's just how the flights worked out based on the seeding. In the end I'm pretty happy about the setup in that even though some flights look easier than others, NONE of them are an easy call!
Cheers, and than you all for your input... I'll keep you posted once the results are in!

I only hope that these outstanding IPAs don't all taste the same by the end. Whenever I have the opportunity to try even one of those beers it's always the only one I have that night. Racer 5 excepted since it's a bit easier for me to get. Congrats though, a truly amazing lineup. I don't think I could honestly pick a winner, but Heady is my current favorite of the ones I've tried.

I am gonna be a bit of an outlier, and say since Hop Henge is that fresh it might surprise, but in the end it will be Heady just because the yeast makes a remarkably better beer that I think will show more as blind.

Why not do it truly blind, with blindfolds, or did I miss it and you are?

Would be great to do a next round, with the top four going against Bad Boy, Notorious, Higher Standard, Kern Citra, Ephraim, Tricerahops, Enjoy By, Dreadnaught, and Double Sunshine.

Haha, nice. I've actually been working through a very similar bracket with a couple buddies, and was going to post the results after our final 4. However, we chose to do one "4 team region" at a time. I felt like trying to taste/judge them all--or even half--in a day would just be too much. We'll be selecting the last qualifier for the final 4 this weekend.

Not that it matters too much, but Abrasive has got to be at least 2 months old now... Unless I am mistaken the latest canning run I have seen is 1/14.
