Yeah it has - it came and went at Champagnes in Warren already. I went into another place and the guy said........."yeah we have it but you need to buy a four pack of Acadia Hop Rocket (which I tried and Champagnes and didn't like) to be able to buy a four back of Double Crooked"...........yeah - no thanks I replied.

Zetouna's on M59 and Rochester had like 3-4 cases of Double Crooked for like $17/4 pack - I picked up a 4 pack.

I can remember at least two bottle shops that had DCT at least three months after it was released at this time last year. Just another story of when unequitable distribution goes bad.

Rave dropped the ball on this one. They didn't allocate it like they have in the past, it was a free for all. Accounts that ordered early in the week were able to stack it, but those whose order days were later got shut out when the well ran dry. A few of the larger accounts that sell tons of DH in Wayne CO will have no DCT this year because of Rave's fuck up.

I'm pissed because I am one of the later accounts and despite having bought and sold plenty of DH for my customers, I am getting no DCT for them. Rave doesn't care and has offered nothing to make it right. So I'm looking at carrying fewer Rave products in the future.

Seems like there's a ton on this side of the state. Much more than I'm used to seeing. Two local stores posted pics on FB and it looked like they had at least 10 cases each. I got 2 bottles at 4.29 per and it's pretty darn good. Last year, I stumbled on it at some rinky dink place in the sticks but it turned out to be malt city by that point. Totally different when fresh. Might try to grab a full 4-pack tomorrow.

Guess I need to open my bottle to see if I should go back and pick up one of the $18 4-packs I saw earlier this week...

    The single was $6 :grimacing:

I had DCT at DH about a little more than a week ago and was pleasantly surprised at how tasty it was. If I could find it anywhere, I would definitely pick it up.

Can buy a pallet of it at the brewery, and it will sit in a lot of spots for a while.

Just picked up a growler of it at Horrock's for $25. Little pricy vs bottles, but the draft version this year might be the best fresh DCT I've ever had.

Based on the $17-18/4 pack, or $6 for a single based on what was said a few posts up :astonished:, the $25 really doesn't sound that bad. I just may have to swing in tomorrow after work to fill a howler of it. Didn't this sell for like $18 a 6 pack 2 years ago? Or am I just imagining things?

The bottle I had was awesome, but I recommend drinking as soon as possible before the malt takes completely over.

I've seen $16.99/$17.99 per 4 pk, and $4.59 a bottle in wayne county

As far as I can remember it's been in the 4pk format. I'll tell you, between my wife and I drinking that growler yesterday, we couldn't even finish it because we were getting too tipsy. Can't taste the abv, but it's definitely there...

I will pick up 2 4 packs at Dark Horse this weekend. Drink one fresh and age the other for a year.

Came across it last night at my local store in the west Chicago burbs. Very excited to give this year's a try.

Ended up stopping at Riverside Liquors after work (being that I'm working on the north side of town) and picked a 4 pack of this up. Drank one bottle (from the bottle) and it tasted nothing like I remember. I'm going to blame the bottle vs. the beer, as I've never drank this one directly from a bottle before (see: experiment failure), nor will I ever do it again lol. The flavors were spot on, but the beer tasted flat out of the bottle....ZERO carbonation. Again, I'm guessing it was my lack of using proper glassware vs. the beer (as this is one of my favorite IIPAs).

I would recommend you NOT do this, although the beauty of our society is free will/choice . Having had 6month+ old Double Crooked Tree, I personally feel the fresh stuff is MUCH better. FWIW, I'm NOT the type to really give 2 shits about having a fresh IPA, but this one does seem to fall off a bit from my experience.

If you do choose to age a 4 pack, I would definitely refrigerate it vs. cellaring it at 50-60 deg. F. I'd also recommend drinking this from a glass vs. a bottle (see comments above lol).

I have aged it for a year 5 years straight. It is great fresh, but it is still pretty damn good with a year on it due to the malt backbone of the recipe.

For sure, how do the hops hold up after the year?
