Do you or have you aged it? The only IPAs that I am currently aging are 120 and Burton Baton. Should I add some of my Double Crooked Trees to my cellar?

DCT straddles the line of DIPA and Barleywine when fresh, it will continue to straddle that line with age. I have no problem sitting on this one, no harm in doing so IMO.

I'd age one for sure. Big fan of that beer.

A tastey beer either way. The hops will mellow out a bit over time but the good thing is it gets smooth as hell.

You can't go wrong fresh or aged, enjoy.

I really enjoy it aged, had a year on it. Very barleywine like and tasty

Age it unless you like chives.

Don't let the fact that it states "ages well" on the bottle influence you...I've cellered this since 08 and enjoy it at all points in the aging process. At 13+% its got some gonads.

I thought it was very barleywine-esque when I had it. Good stuff.

I consider this beer to be one of the few true Triple IPA's out there, along with 120 min and Devil Dancer. Age will do this bottle no harm, but very fresh it's a nice treat too.

This is good to hear. Never had one before, but got a 2010 (?) as an extra. Was a bit disappointed because I don't normally think aging ipa/dipas is a good idea, but I guess with this one, it may actually improve with some time.

The fresher the better in my experience with DCT, but I've never had it with a year or more of age

I'm currently sitting on quite a few from last year's batch. I absolutely love Double Crooked Tree with some age on it, probably prefer aged more than fresh. It's drinking very much like a barleywine right now, but I love barleywines so it'll be subjective. Drink some and then sit on one. That way you have an idea of what you prefer next time around.

I would have to agree with those that say DCT is better with a year of age. Did a side by side vertical when it came out last year. My brother preferred the fresh, I preferred the aged. The fresh is excellent and very hoppy, but still a bit hot for my liking. DCT with age on it is possibly the best barleywine I've tasted.

I've never had Double Crooked Tree, but a great BA included a bottle as an extra after he helped me pick up and shipped me a beer order. I might have to take it out of the fridge and sit on it a year instead of drinking it soon like I was planning to after seeing the comments here.
