I read that as "a bit of intoxication" and was wondering what the problem was. Can someone tell me how this actually compares to DT? Boozier? Hoppier? Both?

I had one at the taproom last night and I thought it was a bit more floral and definitely more boozy. Didn't notice that it was any hoppier, but then I just had the double IPA at Sisyphus.

This and it was pretty dry. My buddy who really only drinks IPAs said it reminded him of an IPA but with out a malt backbone you usually get from them.

I don't want to say it was bad, just not what I was expecting or anything that I will go out of my way to get again.

Wish this was called Imperial Day Tripper. I just don't have the energy to type it all out as to why. I just hope that it is obvious enough as to why.

Double Day Tripper is less letters than Imperial Day Tripper. I don't get your problem with it.

I think he means his explanation for why it should be imperial instead of double would take too long to type. I don't know the difference but would be interested to find out...

Ah, I see. That makes a lot more sense. I'm an idiot.

Although, I find the Imperial vs. Double discussion boring. They both get the same point across in my mind.

How much are the bottles going for? Are they easy to find?

The reviews in this thread from the tap weren't very good but Double DT is currently at 4.11 rating on BA.

$13 is a lot I think. I hate all these specialty beers being bottled and sold for $12-15, which I equate out to 1.5 pints of beer, or $8-10 for a pint... Just because its a seasonal or limited release beer does not mean you need to rip off your loyal customers for wanting to try it. Not all of us can get to NE Mpls.

Anyways, I did make it to NE Mpls and tried it out. I had the normal double day tripper and the double day tripper with CTZ hops. I preferred the cask dbl day tripper, it was a lot smoother i thought and more mellow. I sometimes think that imperial IPAs or double IPAs have too much of a sweet taste, so naming this a double pale ale actually fit because it had a tad more hops, more alcohol, and more malty body. So to me because all 3 of those went up (especially the body) it did not fit in with the IIPA or DPIA categories (Someone mentioned it above but I'm too lazy to look who, but Imperial EPA might have worked). I liked the beer overall, had a very good sipping taste (definitely not a guzzler), good amount of hops, aroma, and the taste was good throughout.

$13 is way too much for a double pale ale.

    $13 for a 750ml bottle is the same as $37.44 for a 6 pack of 12oz cans.

It's making Hop Slam look like a value.

Currently having a glass of the Double at Indeed. After trying it side by side with the regular, it's definitely much more pronounced in the hop department. The profiles are quite different, with what seems like more hop varieties and a slightly thicker mouth feel in the Double. To me it comes across as a big IPA, but really who's to say what the difference is between that and a DPA? I like it, but don't see myself spending that kinda cash on bombers. If only they were filling growlers...

Paid $16 for it yesterday in Apple Valley. Really liked it, but would rather have 6 day trippers for 10!!
