Mastermind is $10 a four pack. DD was good but not at almost twice the price!

They were like $4.59 plus tax and deposit each or something

Yikes. Can't believe these prices...I mean, I happened to be in VT last year for a week right after it was released and it was all over the shelves and taps for a reasonable price. It's good beer, but come on.

Maine is on the board. RSVP(?) and Bier Cellar in portland are your best bets so far.

If I recall correctly, it was about $20/4pk last year in/around Boston.

I think I found it for $16-$17, but it was over $20 at Boston Wine Exchange.

$90 per case at MRG last week. definitely expensive for VT but seems like a deal compared to Dinner.

bought two 4-packs at Bier Cellar this afternoon. $17/4-pack is definitely expensive. This is the first time I'll be trying this so I hope that it is worth the high price tag.

I grabbed a 4 pack at that price just to try the 2nd batch and its nowhere near as good as last year. I couldn't in good conscience recommend it to anyone. But YMMV since taste is subjective.

I had two bottles tonight, and while I definitely think that it is a great beer I think I allowed my expectations to be too high for this. It's good, but I think I over did it buying two 4-packs at the price I paid. Oh well, you live and you learn.

Had two tonight and they were great. It had a more lingering flavor than I remember and more bitter but not in a bad way. Consider any IPA offering from Lawson's is $8-9 for 22oz, it doesn't seem so bad.

Don't forget Citra Mantra, which was the best of the VW bus bunch after DD IMO, although now that I check my reviews I did give Kind Ryed a better score than CM.

The only way I was able to buy DD last year was by coincidentally being in New Hampster on business when it was released there. I snagged two bottles (the limit, at $5 each) at Bert's Better Beers in Manchester, and then a fourpack at Stateline Convenience in Brookline the next day. That was the first weekend in October. But I do recall Yankee Spirits in Sturcrazybridge Mass. had a few fourpacks the following weekend. $15/4 was the going rate. Seemed high then, rather cheap now, after $15/4 GF Palate Wrecker (worth it) and $21/4 Devil Dancer (not worth it).

For my money I'd just as soon go to Tree House on a slow afternoon and grab anything IPAish they have (although I don't do that much since gas and tolls will run close to $20 just to get there and back) than drive all over Western Mastadonachusetts' version of creation looking for DD. It was very very good, but not "gotta have it" good. But certainly the idea of being able to buy something with Sean Lawson's hand in it by simply visiting your local store is pretty irresistible. I'm still greedily hoarding a few precious bottles of Double Sunshine and Peril from his 4th anniversary sale in Waitsfield in April (what the hell is wrong with me?), and all those who gave their lives before them have been killer delicious.

Overpriced and overrated, that's the Double Dose. But, at least it gives people that can't get to VT, a chance to sample some Lawsons. Worth a bottle or two, but definitely not a fridge stuffer.

I guess I will find out for myself momentarily. What's even better is that these were both procured at the same store.

    Mastermind $10.99
    DD $14.99.

Had this tonight. What the hell is going on here? This beer is not great by any means. There are at least 15 ipas I would buy before this. I was duped.

Just picked up Double Dose and Mastermind in Rutland today - jackpot. Had the Double Dose tonight - not sure what people are complaining about, this is just as good as last year's batch and a very very good DIPA
