Why do both Lost Coast and Founders have an (D)IPA named Double Trouble? I ordered a Double Trouble at J.P. O'Malley's in Southside Bethlehem, PA... when it came out I thought it looked a little dark and proceeded to take a sip anyway. I asked the bartender if it was really Double Trouble and he said that the tap handle said so but he wasn't too sure. The Lost Coast Double Trouble was nowhere even close to the Founders version... I knew it wasn't right when the hop profile was completely different. I figured this anomly out when I went searching for recent reviews just to see if my memory was tarnished.

The name isn't trademarked, so each company can do what they want with it. Agreed that the Founders Dub Trub is much better!

Were you actually at Macgrady's? I'm not trying to be an asshole, just curious where they have the "other Double Trouble" on tap. If you're looking for the good stuff (Founder's), The Mint on Broad street in Bethlehem had it on tap (as of last night) and it was fantastically fresh.

A local bar here had the Lost Coast Double Trouble on tap a couple of weeks ago and I ordered a glass. Luckily they label their beers with the brewery name out front so I knew what I was getting. You're right that they taste nothing alike and Founders is much better.

There are also 3 versions of Hoptimus out there. New Albanian's IPA, and two Prime's from Ruckus and Legacy. Had the Albanian and the Legacy, both great brews.

I stand corrected... It is officially J.P. McGradys near E 3rd and Webster. The Mint is nice but its been way too crowded every time I'm there.

The latter two are the same label - Ruckus bought the Legacy brands.

Unrelated, maybe, there is also a brewery in Ontario called Double Trouble! What's so special about that name!?
