Double IPA recomendations

Any VT IPA. Almost all focus on the floral/citrusy hops instead of the piney hops.

 

2x IPA for more of an east coast style from ST

 

To me, pine is east coast, tropical fruit is west coast.

One that's a little harder to find unless you're in the Kentucky/Indiana area is New Albanian's Hoptimus. It's one serious bad ass beer. Super floral then a Mega kick to the mouth with Hops. I'm a huge Hop head so I was addicted to this stuff when I was living in Louisville.

 

Anything from Lagunitas. Waldo's Special, Lucky 13.alt, Sucks. stuff of that nature.

 

To each their own. But Uinta markets it as a single IPA and IMO drinks more like a single than an DIPA.

 

FFF Alpha King is very good for this characteristic flavor, too. I consider it more of an IPA than PA, as it's labelled.

I gotta throw in Oskar Blues Deviant Dale's Pale Ale for the not too piney, super juicy/ tropical bill. I consider Ruination that way, too, and definitely Lagunitas Sucks. Avery Maharaja is a fun and uniquely spicy one that I wouldn't consider too piney.

For a medium-high sweetness citrus bomb, can't go wrong with Hoptimum.

 

Double Jack. Lots of Double Jack.

 

Being from VT, thus spoiled on HT, I know the taste by heart. Heady Topper is exactly what you want. Very aromatic and satisfying. go trade for some!

 

New Glarus IIPA and obviously Central Waters Illumination are very good imo

 

At one time I had Port brewing and Ballast Point mixed up.Mongo was good but not cheap.I like Hoptimum and my grocery store still has a lot.Denogginizer is a favorite of mine and also Hop Stoopid ( also plenty at my grocery).I have 4 Dorados but haven't tried yet.What's up with the "good until 5-2013" ??

Great Divide makes a mighty fine Double IPA............not real piney.............having one now as I type this

 

We tall taste things differently but I'd give Hopslam another chance when it comes out this year....I found that to be more of a fruit cocktail type rather than Piney but perhaps age does something to it...

 

Flower Power would contest that.

Yup I just had a Double A yesterday...not piney in the least.
It's very bready though I don't really like that in a beer.

 

Just ONE? I've had at least 6 cases of it this summer.
