Hey, thanks! It's a "Junior" Baltic Porter because it was slotted into a brief opening in the production schedule, so the recipe had to be written with only 5 weeks in the lagering tank—I know ppl usually expect 7-9% ABV BPs, but alas. (One of my favorites, Carnegie Stark is only 5.5% tho!) Anyway, glad ppl are enjoying—this is a beer I've been hard on myself about, since it's a style I love so much and I tend to over-obsess

We've got Grodziskie and Maibock coming up ...

I'll add that it was wonderful having a lower ABV dark beer with such rich flavor. It's a style I don't see nearly as much on craft shelves compared to when I first got into craft over a decade ago and it's really missed.

Don't be too hard on yourself, it was a delicious treat.

I had no complaint in that mini-review - it's such a damn fine beer! I will admit, however, that your Grodziskie is one of my favorites (ever).:heart_eyes::heart_eyes:That beer made me triple-take the first time I had it in 2017. Cheers! Hope you're getting all the community support you so richly deserve.

I'm on a beer hiatus until I hit a weight loss goal, but I gotta admit, for some reason these Dovetail cans with the kinda-bootleg looking stickers are just sexy as fuck.

No clue why, but it may just be pure beer lust at this point (I'm 13 days in).

I've actually always sort of had a fondness for cans like this. I guess it's a mental thing, but I've typically preferred growlers/crowlers to cans of a "fresh" beer because it feels that much closer to the source. With these, you can tell that someone just threw that shit in the can for your drinking enjoyment, and it's extra fun.

I know the pandemic has been absolutely atrocious for a lot of people and especially a lot of industries, but I really appreciate the new ways said industries are trying to make things work, and this is one of the cooler examples.

I’d just like to say that Dovetail is killing it on social media with the daily options! It’s really the best way to stay informed in these troubling times.

Also I just had the ‘regular’ lager in cans and it was almost as good as drinking at Dovetail! The beer tastes the same I just can’t recreate the vibe at home. Oh well more of a reason to go back once the ban is lifted

    Today is your day!
As a slight aside, had Lager for the first time over the weekend. Really enjoyed it. This needs to be in cans going forward (hint, hint Dovetail ).

Listen, Kolsch has to be next, they've already canned Helles and Vienna!

(I won't be mad if Lager is next though)

    Another day another Dovetail tribute:

Curbside pickup was perfect. Thank you and big shoutout to the folks handling this business! Also, the lager fucks.

Big thanks to @Franfab for sending me a surprise box of proper e-learning materials to use. This included an array of Dovetail cans. Absolutely crushed that Lager after lugging a bunch of mulch all over my yard. Super excited to work through the rest this weekend.

Question, and sorry if this has been addressed, but what is the difference between the Helles Lager and Lager? I don't see separate entries in Untappd or BA. Are they one in the same?

Glad you enjoyed -- both beers have similar grain bills, but the Helles is a single-decoction, lower in alcohol and hopped with Saphir. The Lager (named as such because it's a styleless wonder in a way—it's Franconian in inspiration) is a double-decoction (fuller mouthfeel, more malt depth flavor), higher in ABV and hopped with Tettnang.

LOL, I just realized I signed my post like a grandma.

Anyway, wanted to edit to add: Saphir has more of a citrus-lemon character, whereas Tettnang is more herbal / spicy, so that's where you may see most of the difference. IMO Helles is a more "modern" beer and Lager is more traditional.

I had the Kriek a night or two ago and was very, very impressed. Nailed the natural cherry. Layers of sweet, tart, funk, salinity, and sour. Well done!

This was one of my top three favorite pours at the Binny's Fall Barrel Aged Festival, an excellent Kriek offering.
