I just don't think that the location works for Trillium (not high profile enough) and it doesn't make sense for NS to open another brewery close to where they already are. At least LJ allowed them to get into the city proper and get by the Garden which is not the best bar scene in the city (you could certainly argue NS is out of place there). Brighton/Alston seems much more befitting of Notch. Mystic makes some sense but does moving down the road a little alleviate the problems that they currently have that has made it so they're not continuing?

I wasn’t really referring specifically to those two moving in that space.

I was just responding to your comment that a brewery wouldn’t want to open another location close to their original, or just one town over.

Because it’s seemed to work well for both Nightshift and Trillium.

If it allows them to brew more beer it could.

I think it depends on the situation for a brewery opening a second location fairly close by. For Night Shift it was a different type of venue, I don't think they are brewing that much at Love Joy. Love Joy is family friendly whereas the brewery is more of a bar atmosphere. They compliment each other. Trillium's new venues are mostly "beer gardens" right?

The other option is not opening a second location but doing a full move. Someone like Idle Hands could do a complete move and then have another brewery move in to their space. Not sure how much brewing capacity their space has vs DTR's. That's what Jack's Abby did, Exhibit A moved into their old space.

Mystic's original plans were to open the second location fairly close by, the original location's usage was a bit up in the air. They probably have enough growth to handle that much more capacity as well as it being somewhat optimal for them to have the original location dedicated to barrel aged or even getting back into sours. So I agree with you that a second location nearby isn't necessarily a bad thing depending on the situation.

If you're ever willing to part with/share one, I've been looking to tick that bottle for ages!
