$12 for a six pack of Prairie Standard right? You won't find a better saison in a 12oz bottle in this distro.

Where are the six packs? I only see 750's and they're about $17

Wow that is pricey. Julio's has their 750s for $10 and the six packs they have are $12. There was a thread around here about those prices and the brewer was upset and wanted to know who was over charging.

I'm guessing the prices I'm seeing are old stock purchased back before the issue was "fixed" and no one has bothered to change it. I'd love to see 6 packs, but that will never happen because no one is buying the $17 750's

Tell your friend to come down to Brookline on the "C" line and I can sort him out at Baystate Food and spirits.
    Cheers!

Do you know if Julio got new deliveries since that discussion? Because my understanding is the problem was "fixed", but in the opposite direction, i.e. the prices for bombers would be in a $16-17 range from that point on.

Even if we assume the prices were lowered, which I'm not sure really happened, the store can't just "bother to change it", unless the distributor gives them a credit for that purchase. Stores already paid higher prices when they bought the beer.

That's exactly what I mean. I'm guessing the stock at Julio's is the new, cheaper stock and the stuff I'm seeing in Boston is the overpriced stuff that has been sitting on shelves since the day it showed up. I don't blame the stores for not wanting to take a hit on something the distributor screwed up.

Curiously enough, I happen to know of a store that has had a few cases of Maple Bacon Voodoo Donut sitting on the floor for ages now, still priced at $15. I'm pretty sure those are never going to sell

The problem is the markup for the wholesaler. The same beers are priced at 11.99-12.99 in Maine. Prairie ships to Mass, SB takes their cut, ship to Maine, The wholesaler their takes a cut, the store marks it up 25-30% its still landing under $13.

Yeah, a couple of buck more per unit--bottle, multipack, whatever. It adds up quickly, but if they have stuff you can't find... Was there very recently--a few NightShifts and a few Mystics, but nothing rare and nothing spectacular--in fact, they were ruefully short of Jack's Abby. But both of them have been hard to find in most of the state. Much of it depends on luck of the draw--I would not expect anything good to sit on the shelves at BWX more than 24 hours. Federal (29 State St.) is another find, but they keep very short hours (close at 6 on Saturday) and the store is tiny and expensive. There's really not a whole lot downtown. Most of the action is in suburbs.
