So I am from Indiana but live in Florida. I try to get up to Indy every couple of years. Seems new breweries are always popping up. Last time I was there, I did a solo trip of Bier, Sun King, and Half Acre. So I am doing the same thing. Going solo, going to get an Uber, and hit a few breweries the first week of September. I MUST go to Sun King, of course, for some goodies to bring home. Let's say I hit 4 breweries in total - Sun King being one of them. What other 3 in the general area should I go to? Any thoughts are appreciated!

Daredevil should be on your list, stopped by there Friday before Memorial Day, good beer.

If you're just looking to stay downtown (like you said), then you could work from the southside/fountain square: Fountain Square Brewery, Chilly Water Brewery, Metazoa Brewery, Indiana City Brewery, Sun King Brewery, Flat12 Brewery…. you could hit all of those downtown, they’re all within 3 or so miles of each other.

If you could pick 2 of those listed other than Sun King, what would they be?

None. If you really want to stay around downtown you'd be better served to go to Tomlinson Taproom in City Market (only serves IN beer) or The Tap Mass Ave. From a brewery perspective outside of Sun King, top priorities should be Deviate, Black Acre, Central State (the Koelschip is their beer bar), and Daredevil, in no particular order. I personally like Deviate the most (by a wide margin) but they are by far the longest distance from downtown (~25 min drive). The other 3 would be a pretty reasonable Uber ride at no more than 15 min from downtown.

As Quimby said, Tomlinson Tap Room is a solid play and it's 5 blocks from Sun King, you can walk it easy, and they've got a very nice selection from across the state.

To make it three I'd throw in Chilly Water. Great location, solid selection/variety, well made beer.

And if you get crazy and want to hit everything listed earlier, I forgot St. Joseph, so add that to the list.

(Full disclosure: I work at Sun King and appreciate that you've made us a priority.)

How far is Chilly water from Sun King/Tomlinson? And yes, Sun King is supreme. Thanks for responding!

Here's a map for a better idea of the area.

Yep! I took that tour a couple of years ago, but Deviate was either yet to become to fruition, or it wasn't included on the tour. Had a blast! This time, I am going solo, so just going to walk/uber around Indy. Thanks, though!
