Returning to the homeland from San Diego for a wedding. Hoping to get my hands on some of the non-distro beers for SoCal. Founders, Bell's, FFF, New Glarus, Surly, etc. Is there a decent bottle shop, and where is the best place to find a lot of tap handles? I recall the Nomad on Brady St is pretty good.

Rumpus Room is where you want to be downtown. They rarely update their tap list online, and it doesn't look that great now, but trust me, its been awesome every time I've been in there.

The sugar maple, and Burnhearts have fantastic tap selections.

Sugar Maple, Burnhearts, Palm. Search them on beermenus.

downtown has rumpus room and the cheese mart now has 30+ taps too. I can't think of a decent bottle shop strictly in the downtown area. if you are willing to travel a little outside there are lots of tap options in bay view and riverwest is really starting to get some great places too. Bottles are great at Ray's and Downer street which is a little closer.

Thanks all. I'm already going to check out Sugar Maple, but am staying right off Prospect so also looking for East Side options.

A little on the expensive side, but Whole Foods on North Ave/ Prospect has a pretty decent selection. Only a couple blocks northeast, Downer Wine and Spirits also has an awesome selection. Get chatty with the guys there, it will pay off.

Forgot to mention....these are both stores. Stop at Stubby's for beer on tap. North Ave/ Humboldt area.

If possible, try to hit up Stubby's on Thursday night, I forget what time it starts (9pm? It used to start then..), but after that time all craft taps are 2-3 bucks off.

I would try to hit discount liquor on west Oklahoma if you can. It may not be that close to you but honestly its the best bottle shop around. I go there fairly often and I live 20 minutes north of milwakuee. Check out their webpage it will tell you the new things they will have each month.

For some Belgian beers on tap, try Cafe Hollander on Downer or Cafe Benelux in the Third Ward.

Haha gross. Pizza Shuttle delivers anything on their menu (including ice cream) until at least 3 am. Always a good option.

Webbs is gross and the Shuttle isn't? The best thing about Pizza Shuttle....they are open late.

OP, if you are going to Sugar Maple you could also try the food at HoneyPie. It is owned/ run by the same people as The Comet, has a fantastic beer menu, and is right in the heart of Bayview (2 blocks away from Burnhearts, which is a MUST visit).
