My wife is in Philadelphia for a conference and wants a) a good place to watch Game 6 (and possibly Game 7) of the Stanley Cup Finals, preferably one that is Blackhawk-friendly, but at least where they are hockey-knowledgeable and will care about the game, and b) decent, if not good, beer.

She's staying near 4th and Arch and the conference is at the Convention Center. A web search for Blackhawk bars in Philadelphia turned up Tir Na Nog as the best bet, but it looks like that only falls into the "decent" category when it comes to beer. It's also on the other side of the Convention Center from her apartment. Something between 4th and the Convention Center would be better.

    Any suggestions?

Most great craft bars don't have TVs. A couple places with decent selections closer to the area you specify that have a lot of TVs would be Bru Cafe or Fieldhouse. Bru has better selections generally. A little further away is Misconduct Tavern, better food, good selection. I wouldn't go to Tir Na Nog if you care about beer. If you feel like hopping on the subway, best place to watch would be City Tap House University City. Anywhere you go, I doubt you'll find a Chicago or Tampa centric anything, let alone hockey .

I have no doubt the game will be shown at all these places, but call and ask ahead just in case.

The emphasis is on the hockey game. She definitely wants someplace to watch the game that has good beer, not a great beer place that may happen to have the game on.

Field House and Tavern on Broad are true sports bars. Bru and Misconduct are good places to watch the game, regardless.

If you want to stay in Center City just go to the City Taphouse Logan Square location. It's less than a 10 minute walk from the Convention Center via Cherry Street

This is a good option. Was going to suggest that, but thought it's a bit of a walk from 4th & Arch, though not so far from the Convention Center.

I should clarify this some, too. Location may decide it, too. Thus the question about Khyber Pass and Race Street.

I really love Khyber Pass Pub, though if I recall correctly they only have like 2 televisions, so I would certainly call/ask if they'll be airing the game beforehand.

Khyber and Race have few and small TVs and far from any sort of sports watching atmosphere. Go there if you like cheering by yourself at the ires of hipsters and neckbeards...if they show the game at all

Where did she catch the game?

She ended up having a working dinner and beers at the Field House and watched most of the game from her apartment. But she's just wrapping up dinner at Khyber Pass now and loved it!

Thanks for the info, everyone. Even though my wife didn't use it as originally intended, it will come in handy when the entire family is back in Philly to watch my son march in the Thanksgiving Day Parade.
