I know beer week and all is over but my wife and I are headed in his weekend Friday to Sunday, staying at Best Western Independence Park. I've done all the research so have a bunch of places in mind but looking for locals opinions. Ready to hit up Nat'l Mechanics, Eulogy, Khyber Pass and Triumph since they are right nearby but looking for other must stops. We are up for a lot of walking so thinking historic area on Friday then maybe Italian Market then Rittenhouse Square area Sat., Sunday TBD. We want to do more than just pubcrawl but want good stops along the way. Thanks in advance. No iffy neighborhoods wife would not like that.

I agree. Since you'll be in the city for 3 days, you can easily (and rather quickly) hop on the Paoli-Thorndale line and take the train to the Ardmore station and walk to Tired Hands.

Rittenhouse: Monks Cafe, Good Dog, Nodding Head (brewpub), Jose Pistolas (these are all within a couple blocks)
Italian Market: Hawthornes, POPE, Devils Den, The Cambridge, Wishing Well (some are a bit further from the market but def walking distance)

Tired Hands would be a great stop, especially since they're open for lunch on the weekends right now. Check out the regional rail map (http://www.septa.org/maps/system/index.html) for reference. You want to take the Thorndale line to Ardmore and then TH is just a couple blocks away. If you google it from Center City, it's going to tell you to take MFL to the edge of West Philly, then get out and take a bus or something crazy like that, which you do not want to do.

Thanks good advice that was my strategy to hit Monk's before or after Rittenhouse, same with Hawthornes at I.M. so this is good some of these options werent' listed on beer places,

I would skip Triumph. Their beers are consistently underwhelming. I would try the Philadelphia or the Irish Pol instead.

If you are willing to walk a bit (15-20 minute walk) then you might want to check out the beer bars of the Northern Liberties neighborhood. The Standard Tap has lots of local beers on tap and the food there is very good!

    Cheers!

Hawthornes for food then across the street to Bella vista for cases. no wait, don't do that, that's my plan and you might take beer I want. Just stay home, you probably have better beer there anyway. Bonne voyage!
