For anyone who lives near Doylestown, PA... Doylestown Brewing Company has purchased a second location, formerly "Bobby Simone's," in Doylestown. It's a nice spot with an outdoor space they don't have at their original location (a basement space). http://patch.com/pennsylvania/doylestown/bobby-simones-bought-doylestown-brewing-company From the article: They make some decent brews too... usually offering a mix of classic styles and newer/creative styles. It could be worth checking out if you are in the area.
Do these guys distribute (either bottles or kegs) at all? I only live about 30 minutes from Doylestown (in Montgomery County), but the only place I've ever seen their beer was at a brewfest a couple years ago.
I've had stuff on tap a couple of places near Doylestown (Mosquito Grill, Blue Dog). I don't know where in Montco you are, but Big Top in Roslyn has had kegs of Doylestown R5 in the past. give them a call if they are convenient to you.
I think Doylestown Brewing mostly distributes by kegs. However when I was at the distributor last week I'm pretty sure I saw cases (bottles) of their R5 lager (flagship) and Union Street IPA. Personally, I've been more impressed with their draft/pub offerings than those beers though.
I have seen Doyelstown beers at my local beer distributor. I have never tasted the beers before so there is no way I would commit to buying a case of these beers. Cheers!
Thanks, although I really meant if they distribute kegs that end up at bars, since I've never seen it on tap anywhere. I'm in the Lansdale area.
Bumping an old thread instead of starting a new one. I've been to the old and new location a handful of times. I like big beers / high OG and every time I've been there they primarily have ordinary / classic beer styles - rarely an Imperial Stout or Double IPA etc. The beer is good but I haven't had anything special yet. Any idea with the expanded capacity if they will try bigger beer? I assume in the past their capacity and distribution commitments limit the beers they could make.
I was at the State Street location this past weekend for the first time. They had I think a dozen beers, split half between year around beers and special batches. I had a pint of porter, and a pint of a cinnamon stout. Like your experience, both were solid but unspectacular. The stout was the most adventurous beer on the menu, but it was 5% abv, not a big stout. Considering their flagship is a pale lager and they also have a light lager, I don't think they are nessecarily going for the beer geek crowd.
