I agree with you, I'm having one now. I get more from Community Legion, more on the mouthfeel too, this was a little thin for me. Solid no doubt; but I agree, compared to TenFidy or Founders RIS, I would even say Legion, this is lacking a little. It was fairly mild, would have liked a bit more on this one.

Let's all stop comparing it to TenFidy, et al, and hope SA makes it a standard.

    WHY?????

I think that is part of what makes this hobby fun, comparing the different beers, arguing over the internet about them, and potentially, having great discussions about them when gathered together for shares. I know that when I get together with local friends for shares, this is part of what keeps the discussions going is comparing the beers to others of the same style or category.

WHY take the fun out of that?

Yeah, I'll say it again. This is much more balanced than any regular Imperial Stout I have had in a long time. If people just want char and roast then TenFidy is what you want. This is not thin in any way either, and just incedibly easy to drink. One TenFidy, I am done. After finishing a bomber of DR 15, and wanted another right away.

That said, this does not have to be compaired to any beer. Just enjoy it...or not if you think there are better examples.

I think the BIG thing that people are missing the point on is, ALL of this regarding what each person thinks is better is SUBJECTIVE based on his/her own taste preferences. Just like for the body of the beer, I and a couple others think the body is thin, you don't, just opinions based on taste preferences. You're entitled to your opinion, but it's also OK for others to disagree with you.

Like I said above, I think that is what makes this hobby great, differing opinions and having great discussions about them at shares or on here, at least I find that fun. What I think takes away from that is when people start believing that his/her opinion is the only correct one and they get offended when someone disagrees with them, when taste is so highly subjective.

I liken this to something President Clinton said, "....we do have one continuing problem:we don't want to be around anyone who disagrees with us. More than ever before." I think that is very true on BA. When someone disagrees with someone else, they take it as a personal attack, when most likely it is not, simply a differing of opinion, but people tend to get butthurt others don't agree with them. Just an observation I've made from the last few gatherings I've been to and on here over the last few months. But, this is just my opinion, feel free to disagree.

This is a good RIS. The chocolate flavors are tasty. Is this the base beer for Pumpkinator because it reminds me of it?

Better than Legion? No. But they're both very good imperial stouts.

Now, SA...ditch that "stout" you have now and replace it with this, BA it, and stop with the "limited, rare" fanfare and I'll sing your praises.

You and your opinion suck. How's that for disagreement?

They did BA it.... It's the new BB, right?

With that being said, I agree their winter stout is subpar and needs to be replaced with a more respectable brew.

Of coarse it is opinion....who said it wasn't? it is still every bit as good as other RIS's on the shelf right now  Just cause it does not meet your criteria does not mean it is any less than TenFidy  and it does not mean people have to constantly compare the two, and of coarse don't have to agree on anything (which I rarely do anyway). Drink TendFidy if you want. Not every beer needs to be compared to something else. Either enjoy it for what it is, which is an incredibly balanced stout, or enjoy something else.

Variety is the spice of life. Beer would be boring if all RIS tasted the same.

I think tomorrow I'm going to blend 50% ten fidy and 50% DR15.

On a separate note, and I'm sure I'll get flamed for this but I ordered a temptress sin mint while at a bar with my dad the other night. He happened to be drinking the shiner chocolate beer which I hadn't tried until then. Fast forward 10 minutes, 8 oz's would have been perfect but the mint started wearing me out. See where this is going? Oh no! Oh yes, added a few oz's of that shiner to the sin mint and I found a little taste of beer nirvana. Like an After Eight mint.

That's my dirtiest beer confession this year, had to get it off my chest. I feel disgusted just thinking about what I did but it was delicious.
