South of the Mason-Dixon? Don't get to far ahead of yourself though, there's only 1-1.5 degrees of latitude difference between Oklahoma City and Columbia, SC. I'm having a harder time believing that Texas is considered to be in the West.

OT: I still don't understand why Tapwerks is always the bar of choice in Oklahoma for this type of list. The people that do these rankings must go there early in the afternoon during the middle of the week, because trying to go there during the evening or on the weekend it turns into an absolute shit show >90% of the time with the type of people that show up there.

I live by Proletariat and I think they meant to say East Village unless there is another one I don't know about.

Cool to see Houston's Hay Merchant made it. I've heard people bag on it, but it's solid.

Glad to see Mr. Beery's in Sarasota FL. made the list! Fist bar I have ever been to that made me feel that the point was to enjoy Quality Beers with other enthusiast instead of just going to get trashed and watching a game or a band...not that I don't enjoy sports or Bands.

Can't blieve The Goat Nipple in Traversten, MS and Retreat on Washington's Beard in Feraldbie, ND weren't in there. WORLD CLASS.

Have you looked at a map lately? Kansas, Nebraska, South Dakota, and North Dakota to be specific. ;-)

It's like 900 KM to Mexico and 1700 KM to Canada. It may not be "the south" from a cultural perspective, but it's certainly the south from a geographical one.

I'd swap Tin Bucket for Imperial in Portland too. Though I suppose that's a judgment call.

The Owl Farm in Park Slope, Brooklyn should have been on this list. Also, Chicago should have got more love on this list.

I'd put beer mongers on the list ahead of it too

Nothing from Asheville? Barley's or Thirsty Monk deserves a mention.

I've only been to 2, Avenue Pub and Monk's Cafe. I've got a lot of beer traveling to do.

I was expecting someone to mention Thirsty Monk as they always do with this list every year...but Barley's?! No offense, but you need to visit some better beer bars if you think that place is even close to making the list. And, though I frequent the Thirsty Monk and do enjoy it, I still maintain that they just aren't quite in the same league as other bars on this list that I've been to. Avenue Pub, Churchkey, Mr. Beery's, Novare Res, all just one tier above Thirsty Monk. And then Monk's Cafe is two tiers above.

An should have his own category for "Best side by side beer bars in the country". Nice to see Cap Ale get a little love on the best chains list though.

Been to Brick Store several times and I agree that is a step above either of the aforementioned places. I'll have to get over to Raleigh Times in the near future. I've been to Mr. Beery's on several occasions and I would say that Thirsty Monk measures up to them easily.

Personally I would have replaced Rattle n Hum, Beer Street and Blind Tiger, with some better choices. And Bierkraft, Top Hops and Brouwerij Lane, whether you like them or not, are not really bars. I think the other four are deserving though (I don't personally love Proletariat but I can see why it's popular)
