There is a great beer bar in CT called Eli Cannon's which actually has an app for smart phones which is available for free in the app-store and one of the option menus (along with calendar of events, etc) is "On Tap". They update this daily, maybe even multiple times daily. I don't know how difficult it is to develop an app but this one is amazingly helpful and easy to use. I wish more bars (restaurants) would do the same!

I manage a small pub in New Jersey in which we have 20 taps, 12 of which are craft beers that we rotate constantly. I understand where the consumer is coming from, and we try to update our our list on beermenus.com as much as possible. However, like some have said previously, if it's a Friday night and 4 kegs kick, we are not rushing to change our beer list because there are more important aspects to running a restaurant than making sure our list is updated. We update it whenever we are able to get the time, usually the next morning.

I don't think anyone is reasonably expecting up to the minute updates. But I don't see any reason why it can't be done every day

I wouldn't expect a bar to keep it a list updated as the night goes on, that would be most impressive if they could do that. You updating it the very next day shows that you care about people who look your list up online. Kudos to you! My gripe is with places like the one highlighted in the title, that let it slip for the same length of time as a human pregnancy.

Yeah, this drives me nuts! I have a couple places around me that don't keep up! I offered to The Brew Kettle, who actually does a pretty good job of it, the idea of a "draft cam"! I know Bells and Ballast Point do it ! Basically a cam, set on the blackboard, then when they erase and put up a new draft, it's done! No need to go and update the website!

I agree in principal and with the thought behind your posts in general here. And we're pretty much from the same neck of the woods... I use the web, mostly for finding restaurants, and if you aren't going to keep the web site up then just don't bother at all. I do find it annoying reading a menu, finding something I want to eat, then on arrival discovering that it was a summer menu or last year's - whatever - what's on the real menu isn't what was on line. So yes - if you create the on line presence and rely on that for part of the marketing strategy, then it should be up to date within reason. Yes - it is a choice to make and you can always walk out or choose something else, but if looking for something specific whether it is food, beverage, or anything else it sets that expectation and you start looking look forward to it and anticipating the enjoyment.

When restaurants do it with food menus it's even more frustrating.

I manage a bar/restaurant on Long Island with 52 draft lines. My biggest pet peeve is when you go to a beer bar and their list is not up to date. I always make sure that our list is up to date. with 52 Lines anywhere from 3-5 kegs kick per week, which i will then either re-tap the same beer if it sold well or have something new ready to go. I update the menus once per week when we get our deliveries from our distributors. www.beermenus.com makes it so simple because not only is our menu on that site, it is also on a tab on the restaurant's website. all i have to do is go to beermenus.com and update the menu, which at the same time automatically updates the menu that is linked on our website. I also have the option to share the new beers via twitter and facebook by just checking the box. beermenus automatically links to facebook/twitter. i love it

    Here's a great example: http://monkscafe.com/on_tap.cfm
This is a bar in Philly that is consistently rated a top 100 beer bar in America. As of today (1/14), it hasn't been updated in two weeks. It's the first choice on the menu on the left and they only have maybe 20 taps. I don't understand why you wouldn't keep it updated. Maybe they just don't care.
