It's kinda all over the place. A few dragontrax have been had for assassin and sr71 1:1. Some crazy talk of it going 1:1 with kbbs and BVDL. I see a few sets for trade for things like kbbs but nothing seems to be getting done. Also, it seems that most folks are after only dragon trax as I haven't seen much interest in the other 2. I too was ISO but now that some outside reviews are coming in (some from a few friends) I'm not as interested. Also the few folks I have dealt with seemed more interested in getting maximum return for their bottle. I don't trade with folks like that. One even mentioned being happy that Michigan finally had something they could trade for whales. Lol

Also more night fury is coming in August but I can't say that means more dragontrax.

I haven't seen it trading 1:1 with BVDL or KBBS.

Here are the trades I've done for DragonTrax

1:3 KBBS for the Complete Set (Espresso, DragonTrax, Vanilla Bean) . I put in a Vanilla Rye to sweeten the deal and have a long term trading partner on Witch's Hat Releases. Note that you were only able to buy 2 out of the 3 so the full set might be difficult to come by.

1:1 SR71 for DragonTrax. Was going to be SR71+BA Vanilla Shake for DragonTrax + VB, but trading partner wanted to keep one of the two releases.

1:1 Assassin for DragonTrax. Expanded with some other stuff as well for a 14 VB

Trades I believe others have completed

1:3 KBBS for DragonTrax, Espresso, and Vanilla Rye

1:1 Brandy DL for DragonTrax ?

1:2 BVDL (year?) for DragonTrax and Vanilla Bean?

DragonTrax is great imo, so I can understand folks wanting to get good value out of it. I don't think all MI traders are out for your next born. With only 60 bottles produced this go around and somewhere under that actually willing to trade it's sometimes hard to come across the right eyes. I traded KBBS with a Vanilla Rye for the set, so someone who hadn't had KBBS before could get to enjoy it. I'm sure there are some others out there willing to go the other way around on DragonTrax.

Flavor profile on DragonTrax is solid with lots of different layers as you go through it. Well put together. Personally I feel that 1:1 with an Assassin, SR71, DBH, BA Abraxas, etc is in the ballpark of what I'd trade for DragonTrax, not KBBS caliber to me, but still a solid stout that Witch's Hat put together. Don't take that as gospel as I'm sure others will say its way better or way worse than those beers I just mentioned. Just like some say VB Night Fury is better than DragonTrax and other's saying it isn't as good as Trax.

Looking forward to future Witch's Hat releases to say the least!

Since some examples were given for Dragontrax, anyone have any examples of trades that have been done for Vanilla Bean or Espresso?

I had the '14 Vanilla Bean Night Fury at a share over the weekend with the likes of KBBS, Assassin, SR71, '11 CBS, Damon, Abyss, etc. It was towards the bottom end of the stouts which were shared. Had hoped it had just fallen off so I opened a '15 VB NF the other night, but it wasn't the case. Similar base flavor profile as the DragonTrax, but just don't get the same body, refinement or richness on it. Vanilla comes through with a bit of graham-cracker taste at the end, just not as smooth or as deep as a flavor profile as the Trax imo.

Not in the same ballpark as DragonTrax to me. Personally prefer Vanilla Rye a good bit over the VB Night Fury.

Interested to see how the Espresso shakes out.

I don't even know what Dragon trax is. Obviously I haven't been paying much attention lately

I traded a kiwi hernan for my vanilla... Don't have chocolate espresso to weigh in here on the going rate for that one though...

Had the Chocolate Espresso Night Fury tonight. It's solid and fairly balanced, gets better as it warms. Chocolate up front with a nice roast to it with bitterness on the tail. Still prefer DragonTrax over it by a fair bit and would say this falls in the middle. VB Night fury falls on the bottom rung to my taste buds. DragonTrax just seems to have a bit more depth in the flavor profile and is smooth as you go through it.

BB Chocolate Espresso is a bit more segmented, but blends together better as it warms. The chocolate across it with the roast and coffee are well done. As far as the coffee stouts go I'd still take a Good Morning or Vanilla Shake Bourbon Edition over it, but Witch's Hat is definitely on the right track with this trio. DragonTrax is definitely worth a go if you have an opportunity to try one as its up there with Assassin, DBH, or BA Abraxas imo.

@evilcatfish Dragontrax, from Witch's Hat Brewing, is a bourbon barrel aged imperial stout with vanilla beans, cocoa nibs, coconut & peanut butter.

I was mad curious to try it until I saw it had peanut butter. As unAmerican as it is, I dislike peanut butter, or pb flavoring, in damned near anything, with the notable exceptions of Reece's cups & Bit O Honey. The pb stouts I've tried tasted like they had peanut butter cookies crumbled in em, which was probably the intention, but I just don't like pb cookies. It seems to be a tough beer to land so I'm almost grateful peanut butter was included.

    Duly noted for future reference.....:grinning:

I think I might have been a contributor to your dislike in the past :slight_frown:

As far as I go, you could put PB on a rock and I would still probably eat it. The only thing that potentially rivals it is the smell and allure of bacon............................mmmmnnnnnnnn

I like pb, just not pb flavoring, or in most things, especially desserts. @Mipper you haven't contributed to any dislike. I'll try pb beers, but I haven't found one I like. Which I expected.

My tasting group really likes em, so getting them isn't a bad thing. I just wouldn't trade for one that requires as much as Dragontrax.

I love bacon. Lots of people like pb & bacon, which I haven't tried but might actually like.

Bumping this back up after this week release. I'm guessing with the higher bottle counts they won't be trading quite as high but still interested what is getting done out there.

There seems to be a major disconnect in what people want and what people are offering for trax. I do not think many deals are getting done actually and the asking price has to go down at some point as not every release can be an insta whale.

Which bottle(s) were released on Friday? Just the original Dragontrax?

All three were released. DragonTrax was a 600 bottle release. Think both of the others were around 120. I'm sure someone can provide the exact numbers.
