Amen. I'm at that stage in my life when I'll drain pour a beer just because it doesn't hit me right or simply isn't as exciting as I was expecting. It's easy enough to find a good replacement, and I'm not unduly bothered by the monetary loss/expenditure. Beer has a lot of calories, and I don't want to make that sort of nutritional commitment unless it's for something I completely enjoy.

My last drain pour was this one a few weeks ago.

It was not good. At all. I'm glad I only bought one.

My experience with my very few drain pours is that they all had the word "Chelada" in it.

The issue of the monetary cost of the beer is worth exploring on a philosophical level. Unless you are at a bar and there’s clearly something wrong with the beer, in which case maybe you can send it back and ask for something different—let’s say you are drinking a can or bottle you bought several days or months ago (which in my case is 95% of the beer I consume)—that money is long gone no matter what you do with the beer. You won’t be getting it back. So then the question is, should you keep drinking this beer you’re not enjoying because of the price you paid for it? And for me the answer to that is simple and obvious: No. You bought the beer to try and, hopefully, enjoy. Once you’ve realized that you will not be enjoying the beer, and that the purpose for which you bought it will not come to fruition, the only reasonable solutions are either to stop drinking it and pour it or, if you are drinking with others, to invite them to try it. Who knows, maybe someone else would enjoy a beer that you don’t like. Yes, you wasted your money on that one beer—but even so, by trying it you gained a bit of knowledge that you wouldn’t have had otherwise, so maybe “wasted” is the wrong word. You now know of one beer you’ll probably want to avoid in the future. And that knowledge has to be worth something in itself.

I am sure I am in the minority, but I drain poor some what often. If I have a plus 6% beer that isn’t what I think is at least average I will dump it. There are too many good beers i have at my disposal to waste drinking a mediocre beer.

The only Chelada style I like is Limon Y Sal. Others w fruits or tomato are gunky.

If I dont like it im not forcing it down. I don’t choke down food that I dont like and won’t do it with beer. Last drain pour I recall is Big Bad Baptist batch 111. Straight up cherry cough medicine , $14 literally down the drain and I will not buy their beer ever again. I did have a Double barrel a month after this and it was very good. That was a gift and I was not going to not accept it.

    Enjoy

Interesting take because I thought that green canned one youre talking about was one of the worst Modelo Chelada flavors.

Never had it fresh. Either way, a month ago it tasted like nasty perfume. And now at 4 months, it’s still the same:

Bro, welcome to the internet - you’re going to disagree with people. Don’t blow a gasket. And I came here for drain pours, not your medical advice. Go smoke some maui wowie and chill.

Fermenting with champagne yeast has always been the issue with Black-Ops whether in a $25 bottle or $5 can.

I've had a few that were in the drain pour category, but most were my own fault for forgetting them at the back of the fridge. However, I have a zero food waste policy, so if they were just old I add them to a stew or chili. If really gone, into the compost they go. Jet fuel for the microbes.

I also thought it tasted like bile when I was a noob. One that definitely does smell like bile is The Bruery Hottenroth. I've had it both from the bottle and on draft and it always smells like puke

You gave it a second chance after experiencing 'puke' on the first one?! :astonished: You are a forgiving person.

It's not used anymore. GThe beer in the can is only fermented once.
