I agree with Ta Henket. DFH really does have a few beers hat make me question their brewing.

As a rule I don't drain pour. But I did an 08 Midnight Sun Imperial Chocolate Pumpkin Porter (now called TREAT) recently. It was bad. Really bad. No good. I woulda consume it if it was even remotely not really bad. But it wasn't. It tasted like vinegar. Thankfully another 08 and an 09 sampled recently have been fine.

lol on the BA black hole. Did a video review of that one a couple of weeks ago knowing what we were up against. Just awful. "Entrails of woodland creatures" lol.

I've only drained poured a nearly full beer once. (http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/12511/81090). It was undrinkable, I would have prefered a warm natty ice, cheap vodka, anything.

If I really don't like the beer I'm drinking I'll usually just stop drinking it and use it for cooking.

I have a thing that makes me very uncomfortable with wasting/throwing away food/drink when there are hundreds of millions of people in the world living in poverty and starving/malnutritioned.

Could my half drunken beers somehow get sent to someone willing to drink it, no of course not, but I still think there are ways to not be wasteful.

Haven't had to drain pour one for a while other than occasionally just dumping some left over dregs every now and again. Then last weekend I cracked open a Lakefront Bridge Burner Special Reserve Ale that my brother gave me. It was a sweet and disgusting mess. I could have gotten it all down but I didn't see the point. When you could be drinking something you really like, why force yourself to drink something that you think is gross? If I am going to drink 600 calories which I will have to run off the next morning, it damn better be worth it.

I used to be very hesitant to drainpour and would tough through nearly any beer. My first drainpour was Duchesse de Bourgogne since it tasted like pure malt vinegar. The four of us who split the bottle all thought it was infected and none of us could finish our glass. Since then, it's become easier and easier. I drainpour on a pretty regular basis, now. Life's too short and I'm too fat with too large of a beer cellar to drink shitty beer.

It does have heavy vinegar notes to me as well

That's odd. The bottle I had was pretty sour, no horseyness to it, and pretty good (to my taste).

A while back I said I would never drain pour..I'm too cheap haha. The other week I had a Route Des Épices. And while I did not drain pour it, man...it was the closest I've come. Way too much spice happening there for me

When I first joined this site and read about all the drainpours I was shocked and horrified. If I encounter a shitty beer or a bad bottle I just drink it as fast as possible and at least try to enjoy the alcohol. Enter Sam Adams Triple Bock, quite possibly the worst thing I've ever put in my mouth. I don't possess the writing skill to properly express just how bad it was. I tried really hard to just power through it but I couldn't and down the drain it went.

Cantillon Lou Pepe, I guess I got a bad bottle but it was sour as hell. Down the drain it went!

Interesting that you mention that Tommyknocker- that was one of my first drainpours. That vintage too, I think. Anyway, Pumking is my favorite drainpour, if that makes sense, only because I try it every year, and drainpour it every year. Although last year I was really close to borderline tolerating it. Back at it again soon...

If I'm really not feeling something I'll usually just dump it. I think the last was a Smuttynose Double Bock...not that it was a "bad" beer but I generally don't like Bock's so why drink 22oz of beer I'm not going to enjoy when I have plenty other beers on hand that I can open.

I drainpoured a Lost Abbey Angel's Share (Bourbon) on Saturday night. Damn thing was infected as hell, even though I've been storing it cold for the past 8 months.
