I am at Beermongers, and will be here until 3:30 pm. If you're in the area, stop by, say "Hi vurt!", and I will buy you a beer. I'm the bearded, bespectacled gent at the end of the long table between the bar and the coolers. Chances are I will have a big library book open in front of me, and a beer close at hand.
I opened the thread hoping for a contest to enter. Grand Prize: all expense (singular) paid beer with Vurt. Which I guess is kinda what you were offering, but I was hoping for a little more razzle dazzle.
That's because I didn't mention The Main Event, whereupon John_M and I go across the street to Apex and demand that they play ABBA. It's going to be legendary. (Also, they have Chuckanut Pilsner on tap.)
The wife and I have dinner reservations at Higgins, but I'd almost cancel them to see and participate in this. The last time I was at Apex (several weeks ago actually), I commented on the music selection playing and inquired about the possibility of switching to the ABBA channel. The bartender assumed I was joking and didn't respond to my inquiry. But if there were two of us asking...
I think the general idea was good, but it needs a little tinkering. Instead of "drink beer with vurt," it might work better as "drink beer with other local BAs." We pick a date and a location, and whoever shows up has a beer or two and gets to put some faces to names. Simple.
Uh, I offer this option every November. Just finished hanging with my buddy Tyler and his SO Monika. I shared a couple bottles, we went to North Fork for pizza and beer, then he opened a few at their motel. And, I now have a whole cheesecake to take home. Also, I think I might now have a domicile in Beaverton for a certain weekend.
