drinkable beer in Cuba

only had one. can't recall name (friend brought it back to Germany from Cuba for me). sadly was one of the most awful beers I have ever had

 

It’s been a few years, but I couldn’t find anything other than Crystal (sp?) and Bucanero either on resort or off. The latter had a pirate on the label which helped me to choose it most of the time. Neither was very good.

That said, amazing Rum was abounding and 750ml of even the middling brands was about 50 cents cheaper than a 1.5 litre botttle of Pepsi. So, there is that!

 

I'll echo this. We were there in January 2017 & there was barely anything drinkable. We stuck mostly with rum. It's good! If you find anything decent, let us know.

 

You will want to stick to Rum while there. Havana Club (especially if they are willing to let you use the 3 year) is by far the best mixing rum I've had. You will also likely be in one of the rare locations where every bar will serve you a Mohito (albeit of varying quality).

When I was there, my beer choices were pretty much Bucanero the "Man's" beer in Cuba (that tastes like earth), Cristal the "Woman's beer" which is unoffensive light lager and skunked bottles of Corona. I seem to recall seeing Heineken and Negra Modelo but it's been some time since I've been.
