Picking up a case of brews at Cappelli's in Washington, PA tomorrow evening. I'm looking for some good spring lagers that are in the 5% ABV range. Cappelli's usually has a good selection, so there are certainly some future suggestions in this thread (hopefully) that will be available at said distributor. Suggestions?

Troegs Cultivator is a Helles Bock. It is a real good balance of malt sweetness and hop bitterness. It has a higher ABV (6.9%) than you are looking for, but none the less is a delicious spring lager.

Narragensett Bock. Also a bit above your ABV range (6.5%) but very good and very affordable (<$10 for a six pack of 16oz. cans). Just not sure it's available in PA. Can't go wrong with most of the German import Helles Lagers (if reasonably fresh), which are typically between 5% & 6%. PA breweries to check (in addition to Tröegs) include Stoudt's, Victory, and Sly Fox, all makers of fine lagers.

I just posted these exact two beers in another thread before reading this one. Cultivator and Citra Mantra are my two new favorite lagers this spring.

I don’t believe it is out yet (but soon?): Troegs Sunshine Pils. That beer is the poster child for Tasty Spring Lager.

Also, keep your eyes open for Neshaminy Trauger Pils. I have read advertisements that this beer will be available in cans for Spring 2014.

    Cheers!

    Jack,

So will the Sunshine. Also SEPA folks should look for Old Forge Paradise Pils in the familiar 16 oz can.

Keith, I purchased a 6-pack of Pivo Pils at Capone's a month or so ago. Perhaps you could contact Matt and see if he can get this for you?

It was priced at 15 bucks for a 6-pack. Pivo Pils is a good beer but not really worth 15 bucks.

    Cheers!

Thanks Jack, I'll probably look for it on draft somewhere, hopefully TJs. $15 for a pils six pack is a little steep, but thanks for the info.

Jeff had Pivo Pils on tap at TJs a while back. I missed having it on draft but hopefully they will have it on tap again?

    Cheers!
