Definitely enjoy the changes in character as a higher ABV beer warms.

Weird, I've drank all of my beer at room temp for the last few years at least. There are zero beers in my fridge in fact. I've never once thought "boy, this beer would be better cold" but I have often thought "I wish this stupid beer would warm up already"

Recently brought a friend two sierra Nevada Tumblers and drank one after it was in the fridge for 10 minutes...probably 65 degrees. Was much better than the cold ones I've had before

Looks like I need to buy a thermometer tomorrow to measure the temp of my beers.

I don't really want to drink any beer at room temperature. But many beers are much better around 50 degrees. Anytime I encounter a beer that seems to be flavorless I'll set it aside and let it warm up to see if it improves.

Founders Imperial Stout is very good at room temperature. I'm sure that goes for most Imperial Stouts.

actually you meant to say cellar
for me 50-60 degrees +- is the sweet spot for most/all beers

I think you guys have me here. A room that was 60 degrees would be downright chilly. Hench that would not be an accurate guess for the "room temperature" that I drank the beer at. In reality I think the beer was under 70 but not by much. Like I said it was still good but I think it would have tasted more balanced at closer to 50. I personally like to have beers that have warmed up a bit since being taken out of the fridge but I'd prefer to keep them at or below approx 60.

    Too cold is a no-no...

Cantillon tells consumers to drink their beer 50-60 degrees F. Some of their beers even say "Do Not Serve Cold!" on the label, and the Iris label says to serve the suggested temp of 12-15 deg C. Colder and warmer temps just hide the flavors that are supposed to take center stage.

Lighter beers and some sours I'll store in the fridge but mostly I drink from my cellar which is about 60 degrees give or take a few. I think the fridge makes things way to cold but I do like the journey while the beer warms.

I rarely drink beer at room temperature. I need my beer to be at least somewhat cool for me to fully enjoy it.

the majority of beers i drink at room temp. certain style i like a little colder (IPA, APA, saison, hefe, tripel, pilsner) but i'm all about the room temp beers.

funny to look back upon how i used to look at 'warm' beer years and years ago

If it's a brown ale, I only like it at slightly cooler than room temperature, not cold. Which means the place to drink it is home!

It's pretty commonplace in my part of the woods for people to keep bottles in the living room or kitchen. What few bottled beers I have are kept in a cupboard under the stairs , coolish but not cold. But I only regard bottled beer as a last option anyway.

What you're suggesting with pressurizing the beer wouldn't work in practice, as you cannot drink the beer at higher pressure; as soon as you crack it open (can or bottle) it will begin to equalize with atmospheric pressure (rather rapidly, I might add). That would cause two effects:

    1) The beer would lose its pressurization. Obviously.

    2) If the beer were cold enough, the water content could potentially freeze over.

Plus if you were to store such a beer, a refrigerator wouldn't do it; lowering the freezing point of water does not make the water colder. You would have to store it in the freezer (a cool idea, actually...pun not intended).

If they did manage to perfect a delivery system that maintains the beer at pressure throughout the entire process (that process involving direct delivery to your mouth), it would then be a pressurized and incredibly cold fluid in your mouth, neither of which would be a particularly fun experience for the drinker. I'd imagine; I'm not about to toss the business end of a bicycle pump into my mouth alongside a fistful of crushed ice cubes and go to town.

However, it would absolutely achieve the desired effect you're suggesting: the drinker would be completely unable to taste how bad that swill actually is.

    :grinning:

Love them room temp. I get pissed when I am at a bar and the brew is freezing cold. I will not sip it until the chill has worn off. Lagers of the other hand (Ganset) love freezing cold in the summer

For better or worse it has to be ice cold beer with a chilled/frozen pint glass for me

I have to admit I like to start my beer right from the fridge and let it develop in the glass. Room temp to me is 71 degrees and that is too warm for any beverage. Cellar temp becomes a beers perfection as you hold it and savor it. You can notice how the flavors blend and marry and become smooth. (especially if it's a stout or a porter)

Room or at the very least cellar temps are what I drink my beers at. I hate to wait for the subtle flavours to show up doing the beer fridge thing. Unless it's a Belgian Saison, when gushing is a most likely thing to happen..
