If you ABSOLUTELY believe this then why would you not do it? Why drink beer in a way that you absolutely believe makes it less enjoyable?

If you are going to drink beer from a bottle, then by comparison you might as well start eating your food with a nose-clip on, and see how much you enjoy your favorite foods.

Drinking from a bottle or can: One-note experience. Holds in and intensifies carbonation which overtakes flavor and fills you up unpleasantly quickly. Offers zero aroma. Offers zero aesthetic beauty. Insults craft brewer. 2/5 senses engaged.

Drinking from a glass: Multifaceted experience. Releases some carbonation which allows flavors to shine, prevents you from filling up with gas, and (with many styles) gives you a delicious HEAD. Offers changing aromatics from the beginning to the end of the glass. Offers ability to enjoy the way your beer looks in color, head, carbonation, lacing, etc. 4/5 senses engaged.

Bottom line, drink out of a glass if you can, unless ALL of the following are true, at the same time:
    A. You hate the way your beer tastes, and therefore you want to dull the sensory experience.
    B. You are about to engage in a contest or social situation in which excessive belching will not be viewed as disgusting in public.
    C. You simply want to get drunk as quickly as possible.

I really get a chuckle from beer geeks saying only this or that. Only drink from the appropriate glassware, Only drink at the proper temperature, Only drink if it's fresh within X number of days.
    It's all complete bullshit.
Ask anyone what the best beer they have ever had was and if they are honest it will be inextricably entwined with the the setting or condition that they had it. Nothing can beat the beer that they associate with an exceptional experience. Beer and life are intertwined. Thats the magic of beer, it compliments our joy. I'd rather have a warm Tecate after landing a Marlin than any Whalez in my livingroom.

95% of the time I'll drink a craft beer from a glass (not always the suggested one, but at least a tulip or snifter), but sometimes I'll drink from the bottle. There's a universal feeling of badassness that comes from sucking down a cold brew straight from source.
That being said, I'll never review a beer from the bottle.

If I'm camping or at a restaurant I don't mind the bottle.

At home or a friend's house, I pull out the glassware.

Glassware isn't -always- important, but drinking a hefeweizen or any other beer out of the proper glassware is an entirely different experience.

Notice I said "generally enjoyed best." I typically pour all of my beer into a glass, but sometimes I drink from the bottle because, like I stated above, it's a completely different experience for me, taste wise. Sometimes when I'm having something I've had countless times, I'm not worried about sitting here giggling over the nuances of its aesthetics or picking up its aromatics. Sometimes I just want to experience something from a different angle, and that's what drinking out of the bottle does.

Still tasted pretty damn good and none of the three scenarios you listed were true. Different strokes for different folks. The beer snob persona isn't a good look for anyone, though.

I have learned to appreciate the "proper" glass with my stouts. However, I suspend that rule on my semi-weekly visit to my favorite Chinese veggie restaurant. It's become our tradition to take a beer along to enjoy and I just drink it out of the bottle. Result = just as nice!

I like drinking some beers out of the bottle (AALs, lagers, etc.). But what about beers (IPAs) that have a lot of sediment in the bottle? I'm not sure I want to drink them straight from the bottle.

The best beer I ever had was a KBBS, at a perfect 54.2F, poured into a snifter from a 33 degree angle.

The setting? My parents' basement (aka where I live), in the dark, with the only light coming from my computer screen. Perfection.

Sometimes I'll buy a case of a really nice beer, get home, realize I have no glassware, and just start opening and draining it all. I figure what's the point?

    That's a little extreme no?

Don't get me wrong, I pretty much always use a glass myself, but I don't think using can/bottle is quite as limiting as eating with a nose-clip. When I do skip the glass I survive just fine. And as proper beer geeks, we all know that Heady actually tastes better from the can, right? Cos I mean if a brewer tells us that's the case, then it must be true. But only for Heady obviously. Another (D)IPA from a can - totally different experience. Yuck.

I enjoy Yuengling straight from the bottle. During the summer when I'm outside, fishing or hanging out, I'll drink from the bottle.

At home, no, I prefer a glass. If I'm a guest at someone's house or outdoors drinking, then bottle is fine.
