I don't work shift work but my job has its share of after hours call-outs and extended workdays. To the tune of 600+ hours a year! I've often sat in my shop door and enjoyed a beer after a 12 or 16 hr day. Sometimes this is in the morning!

I don't think it's unusual. Why not have a beer after work no matter what time.

I used to work a 10 p.m. to 6:30 a.m. shift Sunday through Thursday and yes I had beers at 6:40 a.m. with a great breakfast burrito. On weekends it was 'normal' drinking hours but a person's drinking habits depend on a person's work schedule, cheers!

I used to work 5:30pm to 6:30am, it was a little strange at first watching the sun come up with a beer and breakfast but I got used to it. The only reccomendation I would make is to buy your beer before work. The cashiers thought I was a raging alcoholic buying beer that early in the morning.

Hell I'm currently at work and plan to have a beer or two when I get off. I'm usually off at 8am, head to the gym then go have a couple beers on the couch before going to bed.

I actually know of a couple bars that have morning happy hours catering to people that work nights. Lot of police officers, firefighters, factory workers, etc are always there

I work 24hr shifts and you can bet your ass I have a couple beers when I get off (giggity) at 7am. I mean, they wouldnt call it a breakfast stout if they didnt want you to have it in the morning, am I right?

Same here. Used to work 12 hour rotating shifts. Work, go to the gym, have a beer.

    Ha...kinda thought the same thing...

Anyways I drink when I want to, regardless of the time of day...if you are not going to work time is irrelavent and for the record many people will have a beer with lunch then go back to work.

While growing up, Nuns would send us over to the parish hall to clean up in the morning. Bar was packed at 7:30. Ask my father about it. Third shift from G.E. just getting off work. Drink away my friend.

If you're working an 12.5 hour day, I think you're entitled to a drink when you get off, whatever time it is.

I always forget that some jobs may be mixed with alcohol. I've never had one of those jobs. Sure would be nice though. When you have a job where lives are always in your hands, there is absolutely no drinking before work or while on call. Even a hangover can get me in whole mess of trouble so I'm very careful not to drink much on a day before work. Any reasonable suspicion would lead to an immediate on-site breath alcohol test and piss test. I guess it saves me some money though, lol.

    Beer and Eggs baby!!!

Sometimes hit the hard cider on days off, you know, in place of apple juice in the morning.

Been on nights for last 6 years. I no longer worry about what time it is in relation to having a drink.

I used to work midnights (10:30 pm- 6 am) and would kick back a few while watching cartoons when I got home!
