I always drink after work, regardless matter what shift Im on, its the right time to drink. Only thing that sucks is when you work the graveyard and go to the bar after work, you get to the bar and its still dark out then leaving its noon and the sun is out and blinds you.

I worked night shift (12-8) for a couple years.

Drinking a beer at 8:30am is perfectly normal if you are going to bed soon afterward.

Worked third shift help desk when I first got into IT. Regardless of shift, drinking after work is always acceptable as far as I'm concerned.

I've been a nurse for the last 14 years, and was an aide for a few years before that. Def done my fair share of night shifts. I still lived with my parents for the some of it, and they were a little disturbed the first time they woke up and found me drinking a beer in the kitchen at 8 am

I work 11pm-7am from time to time, morning beers can be awkward if you're not used to it but hey I need a drink after work! no matter what time!

what if you practice second sleep whereas you sleep from 8pm to 2am and then again from 5am to 9 am. As I understand it this was common practice just a century ago. There's no way bedside beer could be bad in that scenario.

Yeah, also a nurse. Also worked night shift. Also cracked one open with my 'dinner' around 0830 when I'd usually get home.

Now, when my landlady would come into my apartment as I was tidying up or going to bed and saw an empty beer bottle at 0900 she would freak out, but really why is that any of her business whether I was just waking up or just going to bed anyway?

Actually, I would get home from my night shift at the sausage plant, drink a beer, nerd out with no one, and then go to bed. It was this point in my life that made me join this site. Now everyone can read my janky ass reviews.

Enjoy beer whenever the hell you want. LOL 5pm, 5am or anywhere in between. Know a lot of people that have drinks at odd hours because that is what their schedule allows.

I work overnight, and have no problem cracking a beer or two at 7:00a.m.

Many bars located near factories, warehouses, and other businesses with lots of shift workers open at 6 or 7 AM specifically for those who come off work at 7 or 8 AM and want to drink, and they'll always be crowded in the morning. As someone who has dabbled in working third shift before, I can say that not only is it not weird, it's helpful when trying to relax enough to get decent sleep at a time when your body thinks you should be awake.

Before I worked some odd shifts I used to wonder what kind of people filled the parking lot of several local bars and why they advertised "Happy Hour" from 8-10 AM. It didn't take me long to catch on. Of course, after years of standing some strange watches in the service I have about no circadian rhythm left anyway. My favorite recollection of those days was if I played golf after work (8:30 am tee off) and the looks I'd get with a beer (typically a Genesee Cream Ale) on the first tee while some people were clutching their morning coffee.
