Drinking it slowly over the course of six hours or so is a good idea.

You say that like it's a bad thing:wink:

Had a Parabola solo on New Year's day and sipped it for an hour and a half, sooooo enjoyed it as it warmed, and the buzz was nice too, not overpowering by any means.

I say go for it, OP

Exactly. I drank WWS and Mephistopheles back to back but the thought of drinking that much BT has no appeal.

Seriously, though, I've never tackled Black Tuesday solo but I took down a Grey Monday once for my birthday and it was a partially memorable experience. Like others have said, start early, pace yourself and enjoy!

I would say do it if you have multiple bottles, otherwise enjoy it over several days.

I drink high ABV beers alone all the time and routinely use bottle stoppers that makes these beers last for several openings - you might want to search the forums site as there's quite a bit on which ones work best, etc. I think I even put a post in one of them that summarized all the types. I measure these beers not only by buzz, but also by "#of beers" they represent - using a 5% ABV 12 oz. beer as a measure for "1 unit". This means that the ~19% ABV 25 oz. Black Tuesday you're considering drinking (and I'll start drinking when I hit 1,000 beers - about 120 beers from now) - is roughly the equivalent of an 8 pack of 5% beers (remember, the ones you used to chug with your friends on a Saturday night before all this craft stuff started happening...) - just to put it in perspective...good luck!

I have drank almost all of the bombers and 25's of imperial [whatever] myself, because I have few friends who will drink those kinds of beer. DFH fort... no problem, got an.\other one the next year, drank that one too. Black Ops, same deal, drank it all myself. Taking it slow, enjoying as it warms, and having no plans to go anywhere are requirements for drinking large bottles of high ABV beer by yourself.

However, if I'm seeking such a beer and have a choice, I prefer the 12oz bottles for precisely the reason that they are more amenable to consume without help. The only beer I can think of off hand that meets this standard is Yeti. I will buy four-packs of yeti without question, but a bomber requires more thought and planning.

I knocked out a Christmas Bomb 13% and a The Good The Bad The Unidragon 14% during the steelers game in which they lost so no problem I will take out the Black Tuesday in a sitting when I get it this week I Will drink it over a few hours though because I think it gets better as it warms

I'll echo this sentiment. There are multiple beers that I didn't like the first day I opened them but by day three they had changed into something much better (Hair of the Dog's Adam is one that comes to mind). A lot of these big beers benefit from being left to breathe a bit. Ignoring that, you'll definitely benefit health-wise if you spread out your intake over a few days. And ignoring that, at least you get to enjoy the beer on multiple days instead of one hazy night.

I drank my most recent BT on Thanksgiving day and I did so solo. Like others have said, save it for a weekend and start early. I enjoyed my BT over the course of probably 5 or 6 hours and enjoyed every sip of it.

Does any size work with Bruery bottles?

I'm pretty sure that any size will work. I linked the kinds I bought below. I used this on different bottles from Bruery, HF, Allagash, Nighshiftt, Wicked Weed etc. It basically works well on any bottles that have a decent lip on them. I'll put the top on, give a small shake and then just put it back in the fridge. I've experienced that the spring-loaded rubbed seal will keep the carbonation for up to 5 days.

I doubt I'd even try. The most I can drink myself is about 12% (for a bomber), and it takes me a couple hours to do it.

You will have no trouble finishing it. The real test is drinking the cycle: BT, CR, MW

If I'm not mistaken, miikezombie prefers his BT in 750ml servings.

I've got a bomber of their Bourbon Barrel Smoking Wood sitting, waiting to be consumed, and I've always toyed with taking it down solo...

You could pour one snifter of it, and then re-cap it with a bottle cap and capper (if you have one) to save for the next night, but I think The Bruery uses caps that are just a tad bit larger than the common beer bottle cap.. I did this once with a Speedway Stout, and the second half tasted just as good the next day. Got another foamy, tan head and a hiss on opening the bottle a second time.

That is doable, I've gone through a 64 oz. growler of Smoking Wood over the course of 2 days. I'm sad that they are discontinuing it.

Damn, that's too bad! Nice work on polishing off a 64 oz growler though. Obviously I haven't tried it yet, but I've heard good things.

I like the Bourbon Barrel version, but I think the Rye is better. I recommend picking one up if you get the chance.
