For all of you that have dreams of being able to drink on a daily basis, here is my personal experience. For quite a while now, I have been mostly a weekend drinker - Fri, Sat, Sun with an exception for a night out during the week. I recently moved and drove to my new location and during a period of three weeks [final packing, road trip and unpacking], I took one day off from drinking [the normal daily intake was 3-4, with one 6 beer exception]. Although it was also a dream of mine to be able to have at least a beer or two daily , the dream was as hyped up as some of the beers out there. I gotta admit, the beer is tastier to me when I've taken a few days off and can anticipate the first one or two. Again, to me, there's nothing like the first few sips of a great beer when you haven't had any for 3 or 4 days.

Aside from telling me I'm a disgrace to beer drinkers everywhere for not thoroughly enjoying daily drinking, let's hear some thoughts.

For me it's not about time between beers, but how much beer I've had already. There's a point somewhere after the first beer where there seems to be a pattern that I am more likely to say "wow" to the 2nd or 3rd beer. I'm not talking about being drunk and thinking that everything is good. I just think that my palate needs to become acclimated to beer in general. So.... that first beer, whether it has been 1 day, or 5 days, is breaking me in for the session it seems.

I think age has a lot to do with it, as well as location. I'm a young (and large) guy who can handle my alcohol quite well, so I have weeks where I will drink two to three beers every day and some weeks where I'll only drink on the weekend (read: drink heavily on the weekend). It really depends on who's in town, what local tap lists are looking like, what the gym schedule is looking like, etc. I will say that taking a few days off does add to the enjoyment for certain styles.

That being said, I'm sure I won't be saying the same thing about my drinking schedule in twenty years when I'm 43.

I could probably drink every day if I kept it to one beer, for example, but I like to drink multiples when I get down to it :-) soooooooo........I don't drink every day. :sunglasses:

I normally have a couple a day. From the early middle ages up into the early modern period most Europeans (and lots of other people) drank beer or wine at every meal. It was much safer than drinking water which was generally fairly contaminated and I don't think drinking beer with meals is going to hurt anyone.

Try drinking every day in your mind. Take a tropical vacation in a glass.

hehehe-you are No Disgrace to other people who enjoy Beer man, you just do not feel the need to drink it every day,and that is fine..however for me,a day without a few beers would probably send me off to the funny farm my Friend, it relaxes me and after working a 10-14 hour shift,I really enjoy my Brews,I could care less about the Idiots who say "if you drink every day,you are an Alcoholic" my Kids have NEVER seen me stumbling down the hallway or puking my guts out, simply because I don't,I have been drinking Beer for over 30 years, and I know my Limit man, also when you have to get up @ 5.30am every workday, and put in @ least 10 hours, you need to know when it's time for bed eh? hehe-cheers!

I'd love to drink a beer or two a day, but the waistline doesn't approve. I keep it to fri/sat.

I only drink during the week. I have 1 beer at night when I get home from work. I make sure that one beer is something good, and I look forward to that beer all day long. Sometimes on Sunday I'll have a heavy-hitter with my buddy if he comes over for some BBQ.

I have a beer or two a day for the most part. Maybe skip a day every now and then but on weekends I indulge a bit more when I have guests over or visit the many breweries around town. I'm with Beerwolf666, after working 10+ hour days treating yourself to a beer isn't bad. Never been a stumbling drunk but why beer to not drink it? Especially if you have multiples of anything you're cellaring

Once i drank several beers a day for about three weeks. And i felt like total shit if i do drink days in a row its just two maybe three tops. But i need that recover day though or two to relax. Couple a days isnt much but 4-5 for almost a month made me sick of beer for a while. And its all just from buying different singles too. I dont do it anymore. I got that out of my system and now i enjoy more quality and have less. I tell myself its not going anywhere. Just cuz u buy it doesnt mean drink all of it lol. Its very exciting to have something new.

I emotionally/psychologically/spiritually feel like shit when I drink everyday. I recommend time off between beers as well.

Think it depends on what you're doing and what kind of beer you're having. Ex I drink a lot more during the summer since a cold beer on a hot day is nice. Meanwhile I'd rather down an imperial stout when I'm relaxing on an off day and have one or two (or more) more refreshing beers after getting out from work.

Ever since I've moved my weekly average has increased. I now have 3-5 beers a week. If I was a daily drinker, which I'm not, I think one a day would be enough. I drink for flavor/aroma, not alcohol.

I used to drink more often than I do, but have since reduced the number I consume due to gout. Nasty stuff.

I probably used to drink 1 or 2 on a regular night, more if I was going out/on the weekend.

Now I probably only drink 3 or 4 days max a week, and then in moderation. Maybe the equivalent of 1-2 beers. I've been doing a lot less drinking on my own at home, and it's become more of a social experience. And since I'm not purchasing large quantities, I'm able to save up and buy some nicer bottles.

Snooooozz. Seriously I'm tired of seeing this thread brought up so often. It's either to justify that drinking a few everyday is good? Or to ask " am I not considered a true beer geek/ advocate if I only have a few a week". Here's your answer: drink what you want when you want as often as you want (unless your driving) Nobody's going to criticize you here for your habits. And honestly who gives a shit. I'm 53 years old and I usually have at least one everyday. Tomorrow could be my last so I do what I enjoy. There's no freakin rules man. If you want to destroy your liver that's your decision. I excersise regularly and eat healthy as often as possible . I weigh 175 and that hasn't changed in forever. I haven't been sick in at least 3 years- I mean nothing. As long as this continues I'll do what I want. You should too. Who gives a fuk what anybody thinks....
Sorry for the rant. My two cents.

No beer for me during the week - unless on vacation or something special like that. With my 9-5 gig, commuting, freelance sidework and husbanding, there just aren't enough hours in the day to sit back and really take in a beer during the week. Which is where Friday, Saturday and Sunday come in - 3 to 5 beers each night easy, varying in strength, format, etc. And I'm inclined to agree there's something oddly nice about not imbibing during the week that makes my Friday after work beer taste better. Plus, it gives me something to look forward to on Wednesdays at noon when the week seems endless.
