I searched but I was surprised not to find anything, so my question is, how often do you drink from the can, specifically with IPAs? Why or why not? Are their any that are particularly good/not good from the can?

If there is a thread on this you can just give me the link.
    Thanks!

Heady should only ever be drunk from the can.

All other cans - decanted into a snifter*

*unless a well renowned brewer says otherwise

Serious answer - I love drinking from cans when I'm outside, and will do so with pretty much any canned beer

In most cases, I have enjoyed the beer more out of the can than a glass. That's just me though.

I drink from the can when its convenient (outside), but the beer always tastes better to me from a glass.

My question would be, other than Heady, are there any other specific IPA/DIPAs that the brewer recommends drinking out of the can that you guys can think of?

If it comes in a can then I drink it from the can . . . I pour all bottles though.

    Why?

On a side note, I do the same thing... and I'm not sure why I do it!

90% of the time I pour all beers (other than Bud Light) into a glass, I'll sometimes drink a summer style out of the can, when I'm washing the car, but that's more for safety

I've just always preferred to drink from a can . . . Not sure why either.

If I have never had it before, I will pour in a glass to see the color and get the aroma of it. After that, straight from the can.

I think it is Surly that has something like the "beer from a can for a glass" slogan so it seems even they are suggesting pour thier beer in a glass. Not that means you have to of course.
But yeah unless the (external) situation dictates otherwise, personally I always use a glass.

This, I'm the same way. If it's new to me I always have to pour into a glass to get the color and aromas. If I've had it before though I have no problem drinking it from the can. I like cans. Would love to see more craft beers go that route. Two-hearted in cans is awesome.

I've had Heady both from the can and from a glass and it was no comparison - much better from a glass. People talk about it being an "ugly" beer but I found it quite nice looking.

I think the aroma of the beer helps with taste so I always pour into a glass unless it is safer to leave in the can like tailgating, on a boat, camping/fishing.

Heady is only said to drink from the can because of nostalgic purposes. Reminds him of drinking beers int he back yard. Drink from Can due to convenience, drink from glass when you can.

I just prefer drinking from a glass when I can. I like to smell it as I drink, I feel like more gets in my mouth as well. I'll drink from a can at concerts/beach though.

Never, can't stand it. If there's maybe a rare chance I am on a boat or don't have some other container then maybe I'll make an exception.

I always smell aluminum and can taste it as soon as my tongue touches it...

Always pour... why deprive myself also of 2 senses (Sight and smell from punching out the aroma).

Only when necessary. What about my "no glassware on the pool patio" rule? If it's from the can or a plastic cup, the choice is obvious. Hell, cans are welcome IN the pool!

I personally don't see any unique reason why IPAs are singled out except that Heady Topper seems to have persuaded people do drink from a can and now people think IPAs from a can are special.

I think pbr is nasty in the bottle but is a go to cheap beer for me I can get in cans everywhere. I like all day in cans better than bottles also. I would pick cans over bottles given the same beer in both options. I just like it better.
