So it's looking like 4 teams then.

Anyone want to make any changes to any of the rules or add anything to the box requirements let me know otherwise I will post a sign up thread tonight and we can get this rolling.

So far as it stands for box requirements
    85+ BA score
    500oz minimum
    2 barrel aged beers

I was thinking about adding a food item for the box and a piece of stemmed glassware for every team member but I'll only so it if the majority wants it.

Looking forward to this guys, should be a fun one!

I like the glassware for each team member idea, cool addition. Can we also put in a maximum of 600oz? My participation in this kinda depends on it not being a wallet-killer. At that volume it'd only be 100-150oz/person which is a lot more doable than if we get to one-upping and it winds up being 1000oz.

edit: 600oz max is also good if we're trying to drink all the beer at a single 'event'... I can't imagine drinking more than 100oz in a sitting and still making it home.

edit 2: in addition to 2 BA beers, perhaps something about 'brewery-only' or 'growler-fill only' (don't want to rule out Yellow Rose ) as well?

I'm down with both of those. Maybe like a brewery only bottle and a draft only growler fill?

Growler only might be a little difficult...maybe 2 brewery only or growler only?????

That works. If you're in TX or PA you've got Yellow Rose and Tired Hands respectively; if you're in IL maybe 'brewery-only in bottles' is more a thing? Don't know the local scene there too well.

As many of you guys as I know well, I really doubt meeting any particular 'rules' or 'guidelines' will be an issue (except a maximum, I'm legitimately concerned...) so I only suggest adding that in to encourage local goodness, not to make things more difficult.

I agree. It will be nice to open up and be able to send actual IPAs in something like this as we know those can be consumed fresh when they are received!! Half Acre has a few options available for growler only, but I HATE sending growlers. Never had a fallen soldier, but I see so many horror stories.

As long as you're sending swing-tops, and electric tape the top, there's not usually any issues. screwtop growlers are terrible though, i hate using those.

Per IL law...I have to fill their growlers and I am yet to see swing top at any place...hence why I hate sending growlers

That's odd.........I have only sent screw top's. Maybe the ones at Pizza Boy are extra sturdy?? I tighten them up and tape the heck out of the top.....pulling in the direction they tighten.

No, they're not extra sturdy... both types are unlikely to come off in transit, the bigger difference is in the length of time they stay carbonated; one of the bigger issues with growlers.

@IPAFan521 technically PA has the same law but some places care (Tired Hands, who fortunately use swing top for 1L even if not 2L) and some don't ([Redacted]).

i should note, however, that spending the night will most likely not be an option.

Sounds awesome, I had a hunch your neck of the woods would come up at some point. Chris said he's in as long as we don't get ridiculous with the spendy part, Nick and Jeff have both expressed interest as well.

Depending on the packing/shipping date I could be in. I've got a vacation end of Sept beginning of Oct that takes out 2 weekends that would be right in the prime window for packing. Also will be putting a hit on the budget.
I'd say count me out for now unless you need another member.
Either way, in or out, I should be able to help out with packing supplies.

Awesome of you to offer... I think we'll have to invite you to the packing party whether you're contributing anything liquid or not!

You raise an interesting point, have we come anywhere near talking about a targets-out date or shipping date yet? If I had to guess, I'd say we're probably looking at November or maybe later for a shipping window?

edit: On behalf of the IL team's target, maybe early December so they can send out Prop!
