I usually bring back a large haul from Colorado, so I've stared away from the bottle shops lately. Drinking the stuff is the reason that I bought it, so not a bad thing, its just kinda strange to see all of the bare space. There prolly won't be much empty space in it in a few weeks!

Within this last year, at one point, I was down to 30, or so. Right now I'm at my highest, at over 150, and it might be getting closer to 200. I think I will drink it down a bit before Iget new beers.

Being more of a malty beer fan, summer is when I usually spend way less and get my cellar to 50-60. Winter sees it grow closer to 100

I never let it get that full, to be honest. I believe in freshness, especially with IPAs, so, if I have an excessive amount in there at one time, I stop buying and I drink them all until I can look back and say: Godd*mn, Jimmy. That is some serious gourmet sh*t! Larrrrrrrrrrrrge.

I don't need you to tell me how fucking good my beer is, okay? I'm the one who buys it. I know how good it is. When Bonnie goes shopping she buys SHIT. I buy the gourmet expensive stuff because when I drink it I want to taste it.

i have treid to drink down my cellar...to be honest, keeping every day beers in my fridge is harder than drinking the stouts. nice, crisp ipas and pale ales stocked is more difficult, as i tend to drink 5-6 of those in a session on the weekend...

then, to the cellar, i think i am drinking it down, and next think i know...cycle does a release, i get 14-16 more bottles to add to the cellar, along with picking up some beer this weekend that a buddy is giving me from a raffle..it seems like it never ends with drinking the cellar down for me...

I never buy beer with the intention of saving it for very long.
I love to drink beer, but looking at it for long periods of time doesn't appeal to me at all.

I do this once or twice a year, then do a 30. (30 days of no alcohol). Nice to reset things, reset tolerance, habits, etc. Keep things in perspective.

Is it still "drinking down" if the average age of the beers involved decreases but the net census remains the same? If so, than yes.

I'll be slowly drinking(or trading) my cellar down as I prepare to move into my first house. Unfortunately (or fortunately) I have about 70-80 bottles in the cellar and 30-40 in the fridge...

I guess you could say that I have a buying problem. I've stated in past threads that I'm over 45 minutes from a good bottle shop and I don't get there as often as I wish. So, I tend to overbuy and freshness can be an issue if I'm not careful. I also have Friends and Family that bring me beer when they travel out of state. So I'm not in complete control of the incoming beer. A few times a year, usually before a Beervacation, I'll "thin the herd" or drink the fridge down.

I took an extended break from drinking last winter and spring, so I have been drinking the older stuff that doesn't/didn't age so well a couple of days a week. Part of my problem was I had beer stored over the winter in a couple of different places and literally forgot about them. Now that I have set up a better cellar system, the beers will enjoyed when they should.
