Heading to the Bengals game this weekend and plan on bringing a cooler full of OFBs (old fridge beers) to pass around late in the tailgate! Clean that fridge out! Also bringing a couple bottles from the cellar that have just sat around..

With so many good beers, is it really possible to clean out the beer 'fridge (omg, I sound like my wife...)?

My access to beer is too good (partly because I travel a lot) and there are too many new, enticing beers. I have managed to keep up with the beers that should be aged and to stabilize the size of my stock of other beers, but that seems to be the best I can manage. Fortunately, I have good storage (full size refrigerator + cool, dark basement).

That's called perpetual inventory. :grinning: Lucky you if that 'bastard' could be someone other than you.

I've been dipping into the cellar way too often. Went from 110 or so beers to about 30 as of late.

The more I try to drink down my cellar, the more it's number of bottles stay the same, if not increase.

Yes I'm in the process of doing this. I've got a lot of old home brew not even in the fridge yet. So I said I'm done making beer until all the home brew is gone and I'm not going to buy anymore bottles from town until my fridge is empty. I will buy growlers if I make a trip to a brewery.

I like to always have a selection as I never know what I'm going to be in the mood for, but where I get in trouble is when I buy six packs. Recently went to a tasting of GreatNorth Aleworks, met the brewer and they had a 2 for 1 price on sixs. Couldn't resist, but fridge is full now.

One of the positive things about this site is you make friends. As your friend I would be willing to help you with this problem. Send me your beer & I will drink it for you thereby freeing you up to buy more that you can send to me at a later date. Problem solved.

    I do short term "cellaring".

The norm for me is making 4 decent size hauls a year from whenever I go out of town. Normally I will strategically purchase beers for fresh consumption (IPA's) and those that will be fine stretched out over a couple of months...Roughly spend about $150.00 worth

Unfortunately, I have already consumed 90% my big florida beer haul from early August....

Yes indeed. I am drinking my fridge inventory down in anticipation of fresh hop season. I have cellared all of my darker porters, stouts, barleywines, sours and anything that needs some age on it. I have also been buying smaller quantities of really fresh IPA's ie..just got my hands on the last 4 bottles of Maine Another One bottled on 9/8 and a 4 pack of Wormtown Be Hoppy pounders that was bottled on 9/3. Its all good people!

I'm trying to get down to 100 Gots before I buy something else for the cellar. Should take about 2 weeks.

Everytime I tell myself "I need to drink down my inventory", I come up with some sort of convenient excuse as to why I need to buy more beer.
