There was a guy who had a big following on Instagram, drank lots of rare/sought after beers. I believe he was banned from this site for basically stealing from a member (bad trade). Anyway, he also has a website that allowed you to initiate a trade with him privately. I can only guess that it would be quite possible that he's scamming tons of people to get all the sweet beers he has going on his instagram feed. After all, if he scammed you through a private trade on his own website, you'd have no recourse.

So I suppose the "who cares" in this would be, you'd hope that someone obtains the beers they are drinking through legal and morally acceptable means.

What are Last Snow and Raspberry Tart doing in there? Those are neither BA nor Stouts. Take down this picture!

Whales are good but you have to remember that that they cost more to make. This makes the profit margin less. By not buying the core beers it actually is hurting the company. Whales brewing requires a lot of resources. Smaller companies cannot buy hops, barley, and other ingredients in bulk. This makes the Brewery have to charge more.

I will buy a bottle of a whale if i see one. I like to support the breweries by buying core lineups. This makes it so they can brew special beer that I will buy once in a while.

While they may not be securities, they are definitely marketable and certainly gain and lose value. I think of them a lot like baseball cards and even imagine little arrows going up or down next to them like a stock ticker (or a Beckett if you're privy to that). For example, the value of FO continues to climb, while the trade value of Rare has continuously gone down.

I used to have a shit-ton of baseball cards! How about you send me that Rare that is dropping, and I will send you a gem mint 10 Lance Johnson '93 upper deck?! But for reelz, your analogy was spot on. Pretty soon the craft beer market will be flooded with rare/limited beers, all expecting to fetch a high price tag. This is where the bubble will bust.

I barely drink but in the mean time, Im all about the chase & trade, I make a lot of the releases with my girlfriend, one or two of my random friends when theres a bottle limit and my dog, whose a local celebrity on instagram, she brings in her own advertisement money which I spend on holistic dog-food and whales. I stock up for my friends who can't make the releases or live out of state. I am a Saint among beer-enthusiasts.

Right on man! I remember this pic from your post of a nice haul that you had and good for you, really can't believe how many people are hating on this pic and for being in this thread. A few bottles of Rare and the BA Huna are Whalez in my book and so are a lot of the others, depends on your taste and budget of course.

This hobby just like many others and it all depends on what you want to put into it and what you expect out. I'm envious of all the ISO:FT posts for SR71 for MD but those guys are killing it, and good for them! I'm here just trading for Mex Cake, DBJ and some others that I enjoy regularly without making my hobby too crazy expensive.
