Once we get to Milwaukee, I have no idea whats North of there. Any good bottle shops/breweries worth stopping by? Any place that has Toppling Goliath bottles? I see some Otto's and Sendicks that do according to TG website, but are they worth stopping in? Thanks.
For TG your best bet is probably Discount Liquor on Oklahoma Ave. They had Light Speed, Pompeii, Gamma, Smoove, Gnug, Rover Truck and maybe one more (no Sue that I saw) as of last night. Selection for other breweries is among the best in MKE as well. I stopped in to grab a 4pk of MKE Brewing's Louie's Resurrection, a bourbon barrel aged amber ale (Louie's Demise). Doesn't get talked about much on here but I think it's a phenomenal beer.
If you're not in a hurry and don't mind going a little out of the way, Ridgeview liquor in Green Bay had a pretty solid selection. Very friendly owner as well.
In door county the Main Street market in Egg Harbor has a pretty good selection and they do not sell out of seasonal releases nearly as fast as more populated places. Every once in a while you can find some really good stuff just waiting to be picked up.
In Kenosha you can hit Tenuta's a little off the interstate but they have Light Speed, Pompeii, and Rover Truck. Also they have a good assortment of Black Husky.
Sendicks in Mequon just north of Milwaukee had lots of TG a week ago. We stopped at Anahpee brewing in Algoma on our way back last month. Great little tapeoom. Have a nice mix of styles. Will try a barrel aged dopplebock I bought there this weekend. Door county brewing in Baileys Harbor is worth a stop too.
it's not a bottle shop or brewery but Uncle Mike's in Kenosha is worth a stop, they have 80 beers on tap, love that place, great bar/restaurant that is right off I94. As for breweries, I was up in Door County during the summer and hit up Ahnapee in Algoma which has a nice little taproom. Then I went to Starboard Brewing Company in downtown Sturgeon Bay that had some good beers, next was Door County Brewing Company in Bailey's Harbor which I liked the best out of the 4 breweries I visited. Then there is Shipwrecked in Egg Harbor, beers weren't that good but it was a good place to spend the night in one of their rooms.
