Have the meat of our road trip through VT, ME and NH planned, but have a couple questions about stops on our drive home from Meredith NH to Philadelphia, which will be on a Sunday.

We'll be stopping at Armsby Abbey for brunch, so let's start there. Should I expect a long wait if we get there around 10 a.m. when they open? I know they get stuff from Treehouse and Trillium on occasion, but I haven't seen either on their list in a while. Likely or unlikely either will be around in mid-August? Maybe AA will have some special stuff left over from its anniversary dinner the weekend before?

Best shops to stop in around Armsby? I've heard good things about Austin and Julio's. Hoping to pick up some Wormtown stuff, if possible. Also curious about shops in CT, specifically near New Haven, to grab some some NEBCO. I've seen Amity Wine recommended before; any other good bets to have NEBCO cans?

Last, if anyone has any recommendations for other beers in MA and/CT not available in Philly, I'd love to hear those as well. Thanks.

I wouldn't expect any significant wait for brunch at Armsby. I was there at open on Saturday and walked in with about 4 other people. Downtown Worcester is not exactly a bustling place on the weekends. I wouldn't expect anything from Trillium or Tree House on tap... that has been sporadic at best.

As for Wormtown, there is a chance you can grab some at Julios or Austin, but you might as well stop by the brewery, which opens at noon on Sundays ... it is just around the corner form Armsby. Bee Hoppy is always on tap for 32 oz fills.

For a general selection of the range of beers available in Mass I would stop at Julios. Look for Brewmaster Jack, they are a sleeper brewery around these parts.

nebco cans, currently, it doesn't matter as much. ghandi bot isn't canned right now. last month under the name already passed. sea hag can be found easier, tho its gotten more popular. amity is still worth the look cuz it's right there. I'd say stop at deciccos brewster and/or armonk on your way. great selection and crowler machines. oec/black hog as well. black hog doesn't have cans there - but if you want a beer quick and cheap, it's solid. food trucks usually too lately. and 5 min from oec.

Veracious is in the neighborhood of OEC and Black Hog. By neighborhood, I mean 30 minutes or so and in that general part of the state. It's worth checking out.

Apologies for questioning you, but is that definitive regarding Bot? I was under the impression they still had pallets of cans to finish off.

Coastal in Branford will have Sea Hag and 668 from NEBCO. They also just got a TON of Evil Twin and Crooked Stave bottles- to the point where they're lining the floors of one of the isles (I was in there yesterday). They'll have a ton of other local stuff both in the cooler and on the shelves, too. DuVig is a tiny little brewery about 1.5 miles from Coastal that does growler fills or on-premise tastings and pints of session ales if you're in the mood. It's probably an 8-10 minute detour at the 91/95 split in New Haven.

They do. A big shipment of Bot went out today. And Matt has recently said it will still be a little while before they get thru all the remaining cans of Bot.

@Shyla987 when you said a shipment "went out today" what exactly do you mean? Are there cans of Bot in stores right now? Don't tease me like this.

I've considered that option. Only problem is we have to get back by a certain time to pick up our dog, and I'm just not sure we can wait around for noon, plus another half hour or so in the brewery.

Good stuff. Thanks. Yea, I'm not going to fool myself into thinking I'm going to find Gandhi - I mean, if it happens, awesome - but I've never had any NEBCO stuff so something like Sea Hag would do the trick.

@BAMF ... I meant to ask, in case we do find time, do they also sell cans at the brewery?

@marino13412 Left the brewery today. Has to go thru distribution first before in stores.

@TambaTime If you're asking about New England, no they don't sell cans at the brewery.

Was referring to Wormtown. I'd love to hit NEBCO but it's closed on Sundays, unfortunately.

Bevmax in Norwalk had three cases of sea hag and five case of 668. Both were canned earlier July. But those are easier to get.

I had seen a post from a liquor store the other month saying it was their last shipment under the old name. that's not to say some couldn't be held back. ppl stay posting about it bc of the following. you figure anything bigger, we'd hear about. and, for me personally, on vacation that's too much effort to put into finding something you probably won't find. get a draft or a growler and enjoy the trip.

the possible saving grace for you is ct bars just got approved for growler fills - so you could get lucky.

    hey CT folks!

What's the growler policy there? Would they fill blanks? If so, is it depended on growler type?

Even though they passed the growler law for bars not that many places are doing it yet. Policies differ from place to place but most I have seen make you buy their growler. Prices are crazy too. Craft 260 was selling 32oz growler of SIP OF SUNSHINE for $17 and I think $5 for the growler, pretty steep. Some places won't fill growlers of the good stuff though. Good luck in your search.

I personally think Amity can be a rip off, my friend was offered a single can of Gandhi for like $6 there. Go to any decent liquor store in CT and buy some Sea Hag cans. You might be able to find Lawson's cans of Sip or Super Session depending on when you go, just dont pay too much! Hag is usually arpund $10 for a 6pack, and Lawsons is 14 for a 4 pack of SOS and 12 for a 6 pack of Super Sesh. As for what store, I personally like Mo's and Harry's in Fairfield.

Interesting info on the new growler law in CT.

This guy (hopefully) will have gotten his Lawson's fix in Vermont earlier in the trip.

Cans have been released since then and there were still cans stacked at the brewery last time I visited. People have been saying "this will be the last canning" since February, not that it matters, since it's not like the beer itself is going away.
