Me and my buddy are driving up next week from Cleveland and we can't agree on directions. He thinks taking 90 over and then up and I think 86 over then up. Any recs
There are some spots on the 86 route that are going to slow you down enough where it doesn't make much difference each way. Other than on 90 you can pretty much cruise at 74 the entire way, which might be faster in the long run. It also depends on if and what kinda of stop you plan on making along the way, too. Might be a bottle shop or brewery worth making a pit stop at.
Where in Maine are you going? There's a really good thread within the first two forum pages that has a lot of info in it Edit: Here it is http://beeradvocate.com/community/threads/visiting-portland-me-some-ideas.30751/
We are staying at a town call Paris I think. Going to go into Portland for a day then hike/ fish. Then heading to Waterbury and finally hill farmstead for farmhouse fest. I saw the pages of all the things to do thanks
FWIW, my wife does MA to IN at least once a year and I've done it a couple of times too, our favored route is 80 to the west and 84 to the right, crossing over near Scranton. I friggin' hate 90, especially near Buffalo. 80/84 is just as fast if there aren't construction delays. Not that big a detour to stop by New England Brewing Company and get some growlers for the lake, either.
Since you're ending in VT. If you're planning to go 89 to 91 to 90 on the way back, when you get to 90 in Mass you're about a 2 or 2.5 hour roundtrip from Julio's http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/1348/view=beerfly Plus oh about an hour and a half staring jaw agape at the selection If you're taking 87 back home then ignore
