Ive got an IPA fermenting now and have a few oz of hops left to dry hop with. I was wondering if I should dry hop in a secondary fermenter or go for a try at keg hopping (something I recently read about). If I were to dry hop in the secondary, what would be the best approach to adding it? just dump it in???

Just got done with an apa I dry hopped. I just dumped the hops into my carboy and racked the beer over on top of it. I've never kegged, but have heard its wise to contain your hops in a bag, but otherwise the same.

Dry hop in the keg as a secondary fermenter. This allows you to purge the headspace with CO2. I bag my hops, weight it with a stainless steel tube (the only SS piece I had), and tie it to the keg handle with floss for easy removal.

I personally dry hop in my primary fermenter (plastic bucket). I wait until all signs of fermentation have completed (no more bubbling). I place the pellet hops within a sanitized muslin bag weighed down with marbles (I boil the bag and marbles for a few minutes). I place the bag in the primary and let it sit 7-14 days (I prefer the longer duration of 14 days). You can also just throw the pellets in and they will eventually settle to the bottom.

The other options you mention work as well but I think a secondary is an unnecessary step.

    Cheers!

I have usually dry-hopped after racking into the secondary fermentation container. I like the sound of the Keg-hopping though and will give that a shot with an IPA I have fermenting now. How long do you usually leave it in the keg for secondary?

Plenty of hops: do both maybe
Most bang for the buck: keg hop...purging with CO2 is key as nathanjohnson suggested.
~3 days at room temp, followed by cold hopping in keg seems to work best for me...with no need to remove hops from keg even months later...IMHO.

Nice! I'll give it a shot, I'm sick of cleaning bottles!

I usually let go in the primary for 12-14 days and secondary for 10. all depends on my schedule.

I like the idea of both. I am sure some more hops couldn't hurt.

I dry hop immediately after primary fermentation is complete, and again about 3-5 days before I bottle.
