Has anyone tried or seen this? Its made by the Grand Canyon Brewing Co. but i cant find it on here. Anyway they call it the flavor bomb. Its a plastic device they put in every bomber, inside it has 2 whole hops. Its really a good solid dipa for me. And i also just tried their coffee bean stout a couple days ago. This has the flavor bomb but this one has a small oak chip and two sumatra coffee beans in it. Its pretty damn good too. Just wondering if anyone has heard of this before, dry hopping in the bottle or a couple coffee beans in every bottle? I think its a cool idea and for 6.49 a bomber is a great solid beer for the price. The dipa i would say it tasted similar to enjoyby 5-17-13. Cheers.
This is usually a bad idea because the added items in the bottle create additional nucleation points that result in additional CO2 bubble formation when the bottle is opened. A lot of times this can lead to gushers.
I had an O'so Brewing DIPA that had a hop cone in it and when the bottle was opened at the bar I ordered it in, it gushed quite a bit.
Heady is tough right now. Had 8 and sent them out on trade. Finished my last 2 over the weekend. Probably won't have more till next month.
I could understand the overcarb thing that is definitely not a plus for this beer. I dont think anybody likes beers you associate with gushers. But even with that factor i would still and probably will buy both of these again.
I started a thread on this last year and all anyone came up with was the chili beer with a chili in it. Looks like theyve taken it a lil further.
Heads up because you're new to this. Lawsons, Alchemist and Hill Farmstead beers are only available to people in a tight radius in Northern Vermont. It will take some work to find a willing trade partner with such a small sample size.
After a month or so in the bottle, won't the DIPA taste like grass? There's a reason that breweries usually dry hop for a maximum of two weeks.
I have seen numerous BAs (homebrewers) post that they dry hop in their kegs and leave them in there for the duration of drinking their beers. The beer lasts longer than two weeks and they state the beers don't taste grassy. Cheers!
I do this on a relatively consistent basis. I will generally go a week at room temp and 3-4 weeks in the fridge (keg generally kicks by then). No ill effects to date.
The only one I have personally had is the O'so one and it was more of a novelty than anything due to the residue and debris it left floating around in the beer.
